I mentioned Twain too. Did you? No. Does that matter? No. I merely opined that Twain and Shakespeare both earned the honor of us mere peons respecting their work, and that it is likely that quoting, not paraphrasing, them does a better job anyway.

I added Twain specifically to strengthen my case as you already seem to do disrespect towards the Bard, and maybe you would think more of an example from the other side of the pond.

I'm surprised you find being faced with such basic common sense so offensive. Oh, wait a minute, I take that back. Unfortunately I'm nowhere near as good with a dig as Twain was so you'll just have to live with this.

This thread is dead as in dead horse. It's fun with fistie time now. How you doing with that fist thing? is it more comfortable now? Can the screaming subside? Inquiring minds want to know.

all humans in no way must respect the work of shakespeare and or twain. some take offense at the racial slurs contained in some of the works. i doubt that you do though do you? so take your demand for respect and shove it okay?

and my handle comes from a book called "neuromancer" written by william gibson. so go do some reading, chump.

'the bard'. you do make me laugh though. like you know a dang thing about his work. get a degree in english lit did we?

MPEG-LA never bought any patents relating to H264 patent pool. The member companies own the patents. MPEG-LA is an organization that the member companies have paid to manage the H264 license and the related patents. In this role, MPEG LA is doing its job by looking for violations. It's looking out for its clients' best interests.

What you just described is a cartel.

MPEG-LA is a cartel or a patent troll. In reality, it is both.

If that were remotely true, there'd be no need for MPEG-LA to troll for patents like they are here. What do you think they've been doing for months? They've looked at their patents they own, they've discovered they couldn't make a case VP8 infringes on any of them. That's exactly why they're begging people to come forward with other patents they don't know about.

I wrote my thesis on wavelet based encoding. I strongly suspect by the rest of your post, it is you that has not studied one.

Any company or organization that solely exists to own patents and actively look for violators of the patents and obtain payments for the alleged violations is a patent troll organization.

This is not grasping at straws, it's the definition.

    Content free post -- check

    Bad attitude -- check

Repetitive use of Gibson as handle origin- check

    Lack of humor -- check

    reading list reference -- check

Yeah, screamie, you really got it going on, and on, and on... No content and it pattern matches well.

If you want to be an asshat and disparage Shakespeare and Twain, go right ahead. You obviously don't get it, and never will. That's a sad waste of a resource, and lack of respect for yourself. Oh well...

Maybe you just need a little more lube to avoid the screaming part, or a little more respect will make society be gentler with you. Maybe kiss you first.

Agreed. Are you saying MPEG-LA is that? Because they don't own patents and they don't sue over patents. MPEG-LA administers the licensing and patent pool for a whole bunch of companies. If anyone sues it is the company in the pool that actually owns the patent. This explicitly separates them from the patent troll companies, even if you don't like them..

Screamie, do you need a little more mental lubrication to deign to use proper capitalization??? The only fool here is the one that's not having fun with the poor troll!

Yeah, I think I'm havin' some fun now! Karma's a bitch isn't it! Turnaround is in high gear!

Maybe you should have spent the past few weeks being reasonable and respectful of others, both on and off the boards. Maybe not spouting untruths and personal insults over things it is obvious from your writings factual inaccuracies you have no insight to. That kind of written behavior is obvious to everyone. I'm over getting mad about it with you, I'm just going to let you experience the illustrious sensation of snapback.

I'll be completely supportive of a rehabilitated you. Lose the attitude and disrespect, Karma will yield goodness. Keep up your current work in a thread I cruise, I won't fail to correct the record, and I'll have lots of fun with what you post.

p.s. If you knew my reading list you might be more likely to discuss, but you don't and won't at this rate. Only a lost opportunity for you, but then if all you are is a troll that's getting fed up with the exposure you wouldn't care much.

    [removed entry]

scratch all this. it doesn't matter.

i seriously think that steve jobs is going to die very very soon. i don't think it is BS. And although i totally disagree with some of his business methods and do believe he probably was a real douche to work for, he is still a Titan in the history of computing. I adored the apple II and really believed the 'think different' campaign. sadly i think that spirit is gone from Apple. but in any case, coming to grips with the fact that a childhood idol, no matter what flaws i have imagined or are real, will soon be gone makes puts me in no mood to quible about this stupid sh**.

Yeah, Android, the fastest growing mobile platform is a "burning platform", while Windows Phone 7, a failed smartphone OS, is the answer!

    Your logic rocks!

What patents is Google infringing on? VP8 was created by On2 specifically to work around patents related to H264.

The odds are not on Googles side I think.

I wouldn't be surprised if Google has some aces up its sleeve. Probably patents from the On2 acquisition that cover methods used by H264. Remember, On2 has been doing video for a long time. The company had a lot of patents relating to video.

If the MPEG-LA sues Google, Google will likely show its hand. And it probably won't be pretty for the MPEG-LA cartel.

Your paranoia is pretty amusing. Do you really think Google really gives a crap about Apple? All Google cares about is making money. You think they are some kind of child in a petty squabble over spare change.

I'll leave that to Oracle (Java)

You mean the case where it turned out that nothing was infringed on?
