I was waiting for Perfect Dark...I guess I don't have to wait anymore. I would think only the titles that are nearly finished and co-developed by Nintendo like Star Fox Adventures will actually make it to stores.
It is interesting to note that Nintendo owned half of Rare and so OK'd this sale. The guys who set up Rare have been trying to get out of the business for a while and there have been a few rumored sales in the last few years. Looks like Nintendo finally let them.
This seems like a new strategy for MS. Rather than throw money (and losses) into their product to undercut the competition and eventually make a passable product, they're just flat-out buying developers from competitors' products.
A lot of people are like, "OMG, EVIL M$ BORG STRIKE AGAIN!!!!!!!" whenever Microsoft does something like this. The thing is, their compeitiors have never had problems buying up other developers and forcing them to make exclusive titles. The gaming community has always shrugged its collective shoulders and moved on. Nor have I heard the kind of outrage I've heard now that Microsoft has revised the Xbox with among the usual hardware tweaks, an updated hardware encryption system to prevent the use of mod chips.
Sony has released something like a dozen (perhaps even more) versions of the PS2 with new anti-mod-chip tweaks every single time. People grumbled, but moved on.
So far, Microsoft has been doing what other console makers have been doing for many years. But unlike their compeitors, they don't get free pass after free pass.
Rare cannot keep the Xbox from dying a slow death at the hands of Sony PS2. It is too bad b/c XBOX is a nice piece of hardware. If Sony had released a machine with XBOX stats, they would have sold about a gazillion. There are just not enough good games to buy a XBOX unless you are a hard core, but watch for some great exclusive games (Splinter Cell) for XBOX this fall, and XBOX live. Unfortunately it is too little too late.
If GameCube owners haven't picked up Star Fox Adventures yet, I reccommend it.
There are a bunch of different game play modes. So far, I've done some Zelda-like Adventuring and exploring, flew my ship down to the planet, and chased a dinosaur and 2 enemy soldiers on a flying scooter device (kind of like in Return of the Jedi).
It also has the best graphics of any console game I own, and that includes all of my Xbox games.
Rare might not be developing for the GameCube any more, but their last GCN game is one of the best on the system.
Also of note, Rare will still be developing games for the Game Boy Advance and Microsoft has a deal with THQ to bring Microsoft games to the GBA. I just thought I'd throw that out there.

<strong>No more Diddy Kong Racing for GC?!</strong><hr></blockquote>
Nintendo still owns all the rights to the games... Rare just won't be making them anymore.
