As for your statement about Apple pre-buying, I can only shake my head. How can you pre-buy components that did not exist six months ago? For established materials and components, it would be the height of financial folly for Apple to enter into long-term contracts with one set of suppliers only to have their contractors' competition provide better products and services at lower cost.

As difficult as this is for you to understand, Apple did not become the second highest capitalized company on Earth by engaging in stupid purchasing practices.

Apple has been pre buying for atlas 5 yrs now . How do you pre buy far in advance for products that on still in the planning stage ???

YOU send them 2 or 300 million dollars upfront and you request that when said items are ready and have passed all the test you would like 3 million hard drives

    or 19 million

    that how i guess

apple does not ever use cheap product

apple may charge a high price

    fine then don't buy

go to DELL and enjoy off the shelf RE furbed 3rd world country after market crap .

APPLE PRE BUYS ALL THE TIME For the SMART BIZ PRACTICE OF LOWER D PRICING AND ALWAYS HAVING A SUPPLY ON HAND OR ON THE WAY .

your Smug post tells me you should re read past news articles about apple buying stuff

i liked the article where apple bought in advance 500 million dollars worth of flash drives in a very down market

apple locked in 5 yrs of super high quality and super low pricing

samsung was the other party .

6 months later flash drives sales went hurt the roof

apple hit a grandslam on that one

you must feel very silly right now

    peace

Dell uses IDENTICAL parts. HDD, CPU, GPU, RAM, ODD, and displays are all off the shelf inside Apple's computers. If you ever actually open one up, you'll see that.

*light chuckle for "super high quality"*

About the only "super high quality" thing Apple has guaranteed is display panels, and they're not the exclusive recipient thereof.

Probably because there are only a few manufactures of hard drive out there, those two being the main ones. That being said Apple does, from my experience, tend to use some cheap hard drives....

except DELLS razor thin profit forces it to always get stuck on the spot market for its goods . AND REFURBS LIVE ON THE SPOT MARKET

ALSO DELL has so many laptop lines with millions of choice's quality control and pre buying .

The real issue is >>? does APPLE PRE PAY AND PRE BUY HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF FLASH DRIVES AND THE SUCH .

tThat is not fair to the consumer spending a lot of cash and they install cheap hard drives.

This is true, but dont forget Apple at the end of the day has to answer to its share holders. If you put a 5400 drive in there standard, that will satisfy 98% of the population and save you money and the other 2% who need or use the faster speed, will probably have no problem spending the extra $$$ to upgrade.....

Remember Apple like ALL companies didn't get successfully by wasting money...

If this is the same noise you were asking about in the other thread you started, it was explained that you were hearing the optical drive on startup, not the hard drive.

Again, see above. It has nothing to do with quality control. I have a MacBook Pro and the hard drive is dead silent. If you have a new MBP and the HD is actually making an excessive amount of noise you should have it looked at while it is still under warranty.

However, given what you said in the other thread, you're most likely hearing the optical drive head reset on startup, and it's not a problem.

In my opinion you couldn't do much better than this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148599

    Seagate 2.5in 750GB 7200rpm - $99

That is not wasting money it is using decent parts which the consumer should when buying the Apple products.

Not sure what that's supposed to mean, but I'm saying we absolutely know where Apple gets its parts.
