Well, the film only took in $4.4 million this weekend. that's the worst start EVER.

As much as I like Trek, I think a nice long break is needed. I have been having second thoughts about the movie.

My thought was that in several years they could recast the original. Shatner could make a cameo or something.

Were the shields down? I can't remember. There was a Voyager episode where the Delta Flyer "Grazed shields" with 2 other ships, damaging one of them. I expect the same thing to happen.

Just got back from seeing it...

Overall, pretty decent, much much better than Generations or Insurrection. But First Contact is still best TNG movie in my book. Sure, there are some plot holes and some deficiencies from the film... but nothing's perfect I guess. The ending was nice too, Data showed how human he really is.

I'm seeing that it only made 4 mil this weekend presumably because everyone was seeing LOTR. I know this is the last TNG movie, but what's the future for the Star Trek movies? Voyager? (that'd be cool) DS9? (gag me now) Something completely different? The poor box office returns has me a little skeptical on the future of the franchise...

Well, at least this can be blamed on Berman, and hopefully now he will be booted out. I just wonder, if they do keep star trek alive, who will be the head-honcho... Should be an interesting time for star trek, we honestly have no idea what's going to happen.

Perhaps the shields are no match for something as big as a star ship hitting you. Yuo might not see anything but explosions as the ship hit. Also in the Voyager EP you mention it was their sheilds that were causing the grazing not a ship hitting the shields. Energy vs matter.

These seem like really small points ( nit picking ) anyway.
