As outlook is not displaying any content to rebuild, the issue might be with the outlook installation as when we remove the main identity from identities folder and relaunch outlook it automatically creates a new blank main identity. I would suggest re-installing office 2011 and then try rebuilding identity.

Secondly, Outlook database rebuilding have some perquisites such as space and memory requirements. Depending upon the database size the space required for rebuilding might be large. For example if you have an email database of 20 GB, the amount of free space required would be close to 300 GB's for a successful rebuild. Also, atleast 8GB of memory is required for rebuilding identity. Even after all above there is no guarantee that the identity will be rebuilt successfully and if rebuilt properly then there is no surety that it will not get corrupt again.

After trying to recover data myself using various methods like http://www.officeformachelp.com/2012/05/how-to-recover-your-data-when-rebuilding-restoring-and-upgrading-fails/, I got the system checked from a tech and he told me that outlook database is corrupt and there is nothing that can be done to recover data. But then I saw http://www.officeformachelp.com/outlook/database/ and found outlook stores messages in olk14 format. A quick google search for olk14 message recovery revealed https://www.google.com/search?q=olk14+message+recovery&oq=olk14+message+recovery&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l3&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8.

Finally, I was able to recover my data from outlook mac and have bid adieu to outlook mac forever.

Unfortunately lost outlook massage and data, don't panic. I refer an effective user-friendly software, it can easily recover their corrupt, damaged or inaccessible Outlook for Mac OLM files. That software also exports whole OLM file components such as mails, attachments, contacts and calendar events to PST format. For more details click here - http://www.olmtooutlookpst.com

    Hi there,

Please help, I have the same problem.

Moved microsoft user data file from my documents folder to another location. deleted everything from my documents, and emptied trash as well.

Outlook went brand new.. I moved the MS user data folder back into place but Main ID only had database and only these three (Database Headers, Preferences, Recent Addresses) in Data Records.. Office 2011 Identities file size: 42 Mb

I always moved mails from server to my computer, so don't have mails on server.

Is there a chance to restore my emails?

Thanks a lot for any help.

If you have a data folder bigger than 42MB somewhere, you should be able to put them back in place. If not, you'd have to recover them using software like:

Marvin: thanks so much. I applied many of your recommendations on this question. It took me about 4 days to get the right steps. Thanks again for your support. Monica

I have a problem similar to others on this thread, but nothing is working for me. Hoping you can help.

I was keeping an archive folder in Outlook on My Computer. I got a new laptop. I copied over the entire Identity folder to the new laptop in the same location and opened Outlook only to find the archive folder missing. When I search in Finder, I can find the emails. I can even open them in Outlook ... one ... at ... a ... time. How in the world can I get that folder of emails to show up under My Computer in Outlook so I can easily search it, etc?

    Thanks,

    Andrew
