Ouch, dude. He made a sincere suggestion - he wasn't bragging or being arrogant. Isn't it true that a petition is a failure until it isn't? They accumulate numbers...and until then, they spread the word. There is no "how is your petition going?" - it either has or hasn't reached critical mass. Either way you look at it, it's a better method of persuasion than random posts. Why be so disdainful and sarcastic?

Not really my fight. I'd probably choose matte, but I'm not a professional photographer.

Although I'm personally looking forward to a Mini with Thunderbolt and Lion, I think Thunderbolt on the Air will be more valuable. It brings back Ethernet to the Air and may allow Apple to drop to a single USB port and save even more space.

Do you have some cogent insight into what the challenges for Firewire 800 were in wide adoption in the PC market? How about some background into why Apple chose to support Firewire 800?

One of the more intriguing aspects of this connection technology is the direct access to the PCI Express buss AND future support for both copper and optical in this.

I seriously doubt Portal 2 was even out when they were doing the web graphics for this iMac.

Except that this isn't going to happen for any reason at any time.

Buy now. Buy Lion at release in October.

    Question...

The last 27" imac had a mini dvi port so that it could be used as an external monitor. Now that apple has switched to Thunderbolt in both the 27" AND the 21.5" .....does that mean you will you now be able to use the 21.5" as an external monitor too?

Id like to be able to use it as one in the future if i get a macbook pro or air.

    Thanks for any reply. :-)

He mage the same exact comment on 9to5mac and MacRumors. It may be sincere but it's a copy paste account in an effort to drum up some meager signatures for a neglected petition.

I really don't get the hostility. I love my macs, enjoy the pretty, glossy screen, but geez, cut the hyperbole and anonymous, derisive sarcasm. Nobody is crying about anything. Can anyone give me any tips on comparing the i5 vs i7 processors?

I use Logic Pro a lot and need to decide if the i7 is worth the upgrade. Also, is it strange that the 15" and 17" MBPs come with i7 default and the iMacs are an additional updgrade? is there any particular reason for that?

Anything a bit more in depth than "they're faster" would be tremendously appreciated.

It is not expensive, 107.00 plus shipping for a 8 gb kit. Remember that the 27 has 4 slots and only 2 are used with 2 of 2 gb.

...an Apple apologist if I ever heard one. Have you ever actually tried to apply such a thing to find out it's impossible to avoid dust and bubbles under the surface?

I used to think my wireless input devices were nice, but I got sick of dealing with charging, batteries, etc. And I'm not sure with all the other radiowaves flying through my head I am excited about wireless power. I guess I should make myself a tinfoil hat?

Also..TB is like Firewire 800 on steroids. In other words I doubt many people use it now. In a few years, definitely. But it feels before its time. Even FW 800 has that feeling, in respect to most Mac users. Who will be using TB and how much? I am guessing just pros dealing with media or other large datasets, using it to plug into RAIDs or SSDs or some other media input device that saturates bandwidth. But hey. The iMacs are finally priced to move. Not complaining. If was in the market for a desktop I think the iMac would finally be calling my name.

Remember, adding your comment to transient news articles on the net is fine, but those articles go out of date in a few weeks, and also there is no long-term accumulation and consolidation of numbers, like there is at a petition site.

I'm also sad that there isn't a matte option. If you are interested please sign the petition. If you aren't interested, please have the maturity to not belittle those that are interested in such things.

Looks like I'll be waiting one more year to see what the next cycle holds.

Note: I do own a bunch of AAPL, so I'm totally encouraging those that enjoy the current screen to buy one ASAP. Please

Last iMac had a mini display port, u needed an adapter to connect to a dvi equipped monitor. You can still go to macmall, etc and watch the spec. They still have those models. The adapter is 29 bucks on Apple website.

They just took an iOS game, from the looks of it. Remember iOS rules the roost now... They didn't even bother using an actual OSX game screenshot. At best even if it is an OSX game it is clearly a basic port of an iOS game.

Don't get me wrong, I love Apple, own an etc. etc. but this is quite uncharacteristic.

Come to think of it, look at that fence texture and the license plate. This is clearly Asphalt 6 for Mac or something like that.

I'm pretty shocked right now. This is Apple's marketing and commitment to gaming and GPU horsepower on a Mac? An iOS game on the fastest desktop Apple makes? Playing an iOS game on a 27" with a very high-end GPU?

The sad part is most people won't care anyways. I almost missed it myself, having been so used to seeing iPad posters and marketing graphics.

I agree. I come to AppleInsider because it is less childish than many other tech news sites, but it's still quite hard to have a grown up discussion.

I get you, but there are about a hundred ideas a week that are spread ad nausea over gizmodo, mac rumors, and appleinsider. He's a fan who has said nothing disparaging, and has offered a benevolent, harmless comment that is helpful to those who would also like matte. Maybe we should let him live? Your fervor belongs to a rant about the state of the US economy...not directed against some online poster who is a fan of the exact same products you are but who would also like matte screens to choose from. You guys are on the same team, and like the same stuff. Seriously, if your best friend was nuts about matte screens, would you chew him out, or would you shrug out of indifference because you guys have bigger fish to fry?

We can't buy iMacs! That's annoying. We'll keep bugging you and Apple about it until something is done. Except for the reflective screen, the new iMacs seem pretty nice, but I can't use one.

The reflective screen issue is no less annoying than continued use of C2D processors in Mac minis, no backlit keyboards in MacBook Airs, crummy integrated GPUs in 13" MacBook Pros, no numeric keypad in the wireless keyboards, no xMac, etc.

How about just bugging Apple about it? The rest of us don't care. And would prefer not to see this tastes great/less filling argument every time a new imac comes out.

Write Apple. IF enough of you write Apple then they'll make it an option. IF you really wanted an IMac you would be more constructive with your complaint. Organize a letter writing campaign, etc instead of starting a tastes great/less filling argument.

Also it is very true you can find anti-glare screen protectors. Hell if there is such a demand for this then start a business catering to this need you are passionate about.

Yeah, still a lot less rabid than the big blogs sites though.
