if the next president is a democrat, will he get the free ride Bush is getting today?
i mean no questions about his past drug use, no questions about his alcoholism, no questions on past infidelities in his marriage....i think those are all questions that don't need to be asked of our president and should be between himself, his wife and his family...but the Republicians dogged Clinton on all these issues....do you think they are now off-limits for all future presidents or only off-limits for the current president?? g

(in case some of you need help knowing I was joking...)
But the answer to your question is that they will give Lieberman a free ride in 2005 if there's a war going on.
Actually, I don't find Lieberman all that offensive. I could certainly listen to him and hear him (he seems like a genuinely smart man with some convictions).
Seems that other bunch, last time around, were just blowing smoke and angling for a little press coverage.
I found Cher a GREAT price on travelocity.com but she never responded. I even offered to help her pack.

2) He handled it a lot better than Clinton did, and I guarantee Bush did more drugs than Clinton.
I don't think Bush ever made stupid claims about not inhaling or anything like that. Clinton fried his own hide by being so "slick" about everything, including the whole facetious deal with not inhaling.
It's not out there because it's not an issue and because Bush admitted to it. Clinton's infidelities were so huge in the media because he kept lying like an idiot. Had he come out before Drudge broke Lewinskygate he wouldn't have caught 1/100th the crap he did for it. Bush came out with drinking/drugs, he caught hell from comedians for a few months and now it's water under the bridge. Drudge broke Lewinsky's story, Clinton lied and caught hell from comedians for YEARS.
It's not out there because it's a non-issue.
Bush took the issue away from the press by being up front about it. He talked about his drunk driving before it was reported, he's talked about using some drugs.

No. He tried to cover it up but it came out anyway, right before the election. But thanks for trying to revise history for us.
i admit he has handled it better than clinton...he has refused to talk about it...i bet clinton is cursing himself saying, "wait, you mean i could have refused to answer and everyone would say, ok??? damn"...i think not answering is the right thing to do, but will hard line rightist and their private investigators let a democratic president do that?? i hope so....wouldn't that make politics that much nicer....g
As for the personal stuff, there's nothing there that could be used to challenge his character TODAY, so it is not deemed relevant by the media. Plus, they certainly don't want to have to dig up all that sh*t for Democrats, now OR in the future. Think back to your days in front of the boob tube -- pie fights can get nasty.
He's SERIOUS, folks! Oh my...

You manage to finger-wag AND be funny (albeit in an unintentional kind of way) in just one succinct sentence!
You practice this stuff, right? When do you have time for class?
ps..it is very common to judge people today by their past actions...if the media brought up GW's use of coke and sleeping around in the past, many people would judge him by it today...g

We're moving into an era though where our Presidents (for the next decade or two) are going to be of an age where they were brought up in the 60's and 70's (and even 80's?), so recreational usage of certain substances was definitely out there.
It'll probably just become common, accepted knowledge I guess? We'll someday have a president who actually slam danced or had blue hair during his youth.
