I've tried quite a few and liked a few but I always go back to something bottled up in Portland, OR. ( about 54 miles away for me ). Widmer Bros. Hefeweizen.
PS. The Sapporo Reserve is pretty good. If you like dark stuff Sheifs Stout ( Australia ) is almost as thick as Guiness but less filling.
The best once I've tried are some 'German Lager' beers who's names are countless really. Produced by some small breweries for the local marked only. Of the international brands me favorites are:
1) Guinnes
2) Carlsberg Black Gold (Brewed outside Denmark as the water here isn't well suited for brewing)
dang girl...that stuff is like chewing down thick syrup....but it is tasty
me...black and tans---guiness and bass

It's one the best dark beers I've tried. It's thicker than molasses, but tastes delicious. There's a bar in Santa Monica that sells it on draft and they cut it off at the tap with a pair of scissors and serve it on a plate with french fries.
hey i grew up on 3rd street in santa monica....there was a great mexician restaurtant on i think lincoln and rose?? always had a little old lady making tortillas by hand in the middle of the restaurant and a dog running around the kitchen.....g
mmmmm-thick chewy beer...it use to come in little cans that had a thick goo on the bottom where it settled...haven't had it in years...on tap sounds great...g
If I said a Dodge Dart was my favorite car, wouldn't you chuckle too?

my first car was a 1976 sky blue dodgedart named bob ( so named due to the fact that the license plate number was BOB something-something). bob could always get you to the party on time or there abouts even if it had the stylings of a brick. was a great buddy car but did very little to enhance ones chances with the ladies.

My dad's first car after he moved to the US was a lime green Plymouth Duster, which is pretty closely related to the Dart. I'm not sure how well he did with the ladies.
If I can get a Paulener Hefeweissen that's what I'll order at the bar..as long as its coming off a tap. It's not as good out of the bottle though....
When I first started drinking beer I knew someone who thought that Heineken was the sh!t. They were right, it IS sh!t....it always tastes skunked to me these days. Blecch.
We have a local chain in ATL called Taco Mac that has a few locations with over 100 beers on tap ALL THE TIME. A lot of them have 200 variations of bottled beer too. Don't you love those kinds of places? Oh yeah, it's not a Mexican restaurant...going to the website finally answered the question I've had as to the name of the place....go find out for yourself if you're really, really interested! ;P
I just bought a case of Newcastle Brown Ale. Gotta say I'm underwhelmed by it. Not only does it sport an ugly brown color, it pours with a weak head. Big minus points for presentation! Now for the actual taste test...wow...a burst of malt flavor, then watery. Hmm. I guess I'm used to microbrews that put a festival of tastes on the palate. For the alcohol content, this is surprisingly disappointing. You can neither chug a boatload of these or simply enjoy one at the dinner table. It's just...there.
It sorta tastes like a lightp Full Sail Amber, just not as much hops or sugar... and it's brown.

I'd have to agree with Eugene on this summary
1. Mad River Brewery Jamaica "Red".
2. Stone's India Pale
3. Firestone Pale
Import:
1. Guinness (on tap!)
2. Flying Horse (Indian)
3. Theakston's Old Peculier (UK)
dang girl...that stuff is like chewing down thick syrup....but it is tasty
me...black and tans---guiness and bass

2) Carlsberg Black Gold (Brewed outside Denmark as the water here isn't well suited for brewing)
3) Becks
4) Budwizer (The CZ one)
Beer sucks for the most part but an ice-cold Ziegenbock goes great with a sweet dinner if the mood strikes me.

you need to turn in your spurs and hand over your gunrack son, cause you ain't no texan with that attitude.
zieggys not bad, but i still prefer shiner if given the choice.

Well Eugene, unfortunately not everyone can be as perfect as you and as they say, to each his own, eh?

Alcohol is a depressant...
If I said a Dodge Dart was my favorite car, wouldn't you chuckle too?
Simply THE finest beer of any type anywhere in the world. And I've been halfway around the world, btw.

now I'm trying a cabernet sauvignon which is okay, but not as sweet as I'd like.
Open for suggestions in the under $10 range.
