What makes you think so?

    Are you guessing?

And anyway, all this arguing about semantics is a waste of time. Basically Apple CAN release new hardware products as they have not issued a press release to this effect (investors have problems with companies outrightly lying to them). Then again, they may have no intentions to release anything, as Greg Joswiak says.

Apple can do what it likes, as long as it hasn't made any committal.

    Just my 2p worth.

Then Mot will commit Seppuku, and IBM will volunteer to be the honourable friend to take it's head off!

    Hehehe...

My crystal ball has been a little fuzzy since I spilled coffee all over it, but everytime I speak the words "Macworld Tokyo" to it, I get pictures of a giant green fire breathing lizard stomping on buildings and throngs of people running and screaming... can anyone shed some light on this for me?

VMX, do you KNOW for certain this is too early? Or do you just think it isn't possible?

A lot of people thought the new iMac wasn't possible. At least not at MWSF for the price it's at.

Confirmed! Apple announces at MWTY that they're bundling Mozilla as the default browser!

Maybe I'll just bring mine along this May and ask you to help me sort it out in Yokohama. If you are right, I'll be a happy camper, since I use the iBook and my PowerBook G3 pismo all the time, the one in Japanese, one in English and I sure would like to consider bringing them both up to OS X. Maybe I should start a thread on current software about Japanese!

Do you use the JLK with the English OS 9? My wife and I have our computers set that way. Seems more stable than running OS 9J. Near as I can tell most, if not all, Japanese apps will run this way. The only big thing you lose is that Japanese printer drivers display mojibake rather than Japanese text. But anyway they work.

By the way, March 21 is a national holiday in Japan. Should get a good turnout for the keynote. Supplies of the new iMac have been tight here so probably lots of people will want to come take a look at them in person.

This REALLY will not happen. For some time HDs with 5400rmp will be high end in notebooks and we won't see them in iBooks.

He should better be dressed in Kendo batttledress if he has nothing new to said in his speech. Kendo battledress are perfect to protect yourself against balistic projectiles like rotten eggs and tomatoes.

Just TEN (10) Days to MacWorld Tokyo!

    Does anybody care?

I really do hope for a move in the PowerBook department, but I doubt it will come. I will probably have to hold out for an iBook G4 someday, no sooner than NY and probably next year...

The PowerBook just is not that convenient to really use on the road and in the Library, while the iBook is ideal/

    Hey, we are excited.

We preregistered for the keynote. The 21st is a national holiday so I expect lots of high school and college kids.

Anyone know if Steve will fly his jet? I can see Haneda airport from my office. Maybe I can get a view of the jet (which we all paid for).

Somehow I doubt much new will come of this expo.

After all, the iMac is really taking off (even if shipments aren't) and with MWNY not too far off, I can't see Apple "wasting" a Powerbook announcement where they might use in July.

I'd too love to see a G4 iBook, but again the speed bump was pretty recent. So that may happen later, again in July, in NY.

Does anyone think that Apple may pull the same stunt as Macworld San Francisco when they counted down to the event on there website? And with the little teasers?

Not a chance. They've come out publicly to state that there will be no new hardware, so why hype it?
