I've had Nora Jones cd before anyone new who she was. I could tell she was special from one song.

However the Album is none to have distortion and mic'd vocal problems. I doubt you could legitimately consider it the best engineered album.

I'm REALLY waiting for her next album. This debut album was "safe" the tempos didn't change much but Jones is such a talent it doesn't matter.

Man do they give away Grammy's like candy nowadays or what?

Yeah me too! And it doesn't hurt if they're cute and humble like Norah was.

Folks, cut her some slack. Just because she's popular, doesn't make it bad music. Her background is more bluesy but with the cross over appeal, they put her in the pop category. She's got a great voice she was just as surprised as many were by her popularity and success.

I saw her on Leno a few months ago and thought "wow, what a nice voice and a pretty song". I don't have her CD and I don't know much about her music, but I'm very glad to see that she won, playing that type of stuff, over Eminem and Nelly, which just isn'...well never mind.

You know what I'm trying to say.

Is it true she's Ravi Shankar's daughter? I just heard that today. That's kinda interesting!

And regarding the presenters and winners making butts of themselves, I was surprised to see how sedate and un-mouthy they were regarding the current state of the world. I think the word was put out for people to keep their rants to themselves. Seems to have worked? A couple of people said small, quick things (and the luscious Ms. Crow had a strap on her bass that said "No War", but that was pretty low-key really...her big mane of tousled, j.b.f. hair pretty much hid the wording).

But I did like Fred Durst's creative use of the language (regarding Iraq): "...I think we're all in agreeance...".

    Way to go, hammerhead.

You left out the ending of that sentence which was just as funny!

"....that this war would just go away."

Sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut instead of trying too hard to sound intelligent.

I'm glad she won, because I prefer the jazzy, more understated music to the eminem-types, and I think these awards signal the types of music that are likely to be heavily promoted in the coming years. Hell, I don't listen to any of it, but it's hard to avoid being subjected to the mass promotions of pop music, and I'd rather it be jazzy than rappy.

You know what really pissed me off? They say they don't have time to give out the award for "Best Rock Album", but then turn around and give a coked-up Robin Williams 5 minutes to accept his award for "Best Comedy Album".

It's a MUSIC SHOW! Springsteen should have been able to give an acceptance speech. If they had done that, I would have been less upset by all of this Norah Jones crap.

    The Grammys. What a joke. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[oyvey]" />

The tribute to Joe Strummer was funny and strange, as Van Zandt, Grohl and Springsteen all seemed to take on a bizarre cockney-fu accent as the song wore on. Do the great mass of Grammy idiots even know who The Clash were? Sadly the year London Calling was released Christopher Cross won for Best New Artist and Album of the Year.
