I think ADC is great: one cord for power, monitor, and USB. Thrid party vendors are even starting to adopt it up for their monitors. The new 17" Formac Gallery 1740 LCD, for example, which is MVA based, allows color calibration, and is about $100 less than the Apple 17" LCD.

Huh? $599 is more than $1299?

Yes, the iMac is an educational product. But it's also a consumer one. Plus I can see Apple's 15" display to drop to $450.

If you check the threads here, you'll find a number of folks who would love to connect an Apple branded LCD to their iMac or laptop.

While not scientific, it certainly is not biased.

There is no good reason why Apple's LCD's should be limited to only the towers.

Regardless, we'll see in a few months if anything is done. And obviously we don't see eye to eye.

in that 1299 you are paying for a 15 inch LCD. They don't just include and LCD for "free"

how about this... how many iMacs do you see with VGA displays connected to them as a second mirrored monitor?

come on, I'll be very interested in this because I have seen 2. And one of those was a store display showing off a monitor, not necessarily the mirroring feature of the iMac
