Is there an alliance that could transform Apple?

Apple-IBM

Apple-Disney

Apple-AOL

Apple-Sony

Apple-AMD

Apple-IBM would get my vote for the best way to ensure corporate sales, and who would underestimate the power of IBM. Not I for one.

Apple-AMD would shock, but would it do this trick?

I would guess that Apple IBM would be the best bet to skyrocket sales. IBM has long time ties with a lot of people that buy hardware. I'm not sure how it would work out though.

Apple-Intel wherein Apple designs a PowerPC processor and Intel does the fab. Heck, Apple could design an embedded PPC processor and challenge Moto and IBM

Apple-Disney is a bad match. Eisner and Jobs would not get along. Apple is not going to merge with anybody in the foreseeable future. Mergers of computer companies have a history of failing. It will be interesting to see how the HP-Compaq alliance works. Apple is going the consumer electronics route in the next few years, so Sony would probably not be on the docket.

Eisner isn't currently getting along with much of anyone in the Tech industry right now.

The Devil. In this case, though, Apple would be copying MicroSoft.

Yes, but I believe that Microsoft already closed an exclusive deal with them.

Sounds cool, but wouldn't a company of that magnitude be poised to take over rival Adobe or would *gasp* antitrust regulations prohibit such a move?

Apple attempted to join the Axis of Evil, but they had a preexisting and illegal contract, by which the AOE was prevented from dual-aligning itself with any other OS-maker.

EDIT: onlooker beat me to the punch. bastard.

Apple needs the power of the dark side of the force. Only a master of evil can bring Apple the CPU performance they need. And no, Dubya is too preoccupied with being the administration's front-bitch to be of much help. Apple needs a full time master of evil, like Darth Vader.

One can only hope that in Motorola there lurks someone evil and vile enough to bring the POWER back into Powermacs.

I would not like to see Macromedia and Apple form an alliance, let alone merge.

(not that it's even possible, really)

I would like Macromedia to have the freedom to develop server software with no constraints from a partner/parent company as far as "platform" preference.

Having said that, I think ColdFusion should run on OS X--and an alliance would ensure that.

LOL...ScottiB, you beat me to it. An alliance with the Devil could definitely prove beneficial. Those 2.666GZ G5 "Scorchers" and 3.666GZ G5 "Infernos" PPC chips would rock! And the "Fire" theme could be a nice alternative to Aqua aswell. Of course, the devil horns/airport antennas could pose a problem aesthetically speaking.
