    Be?cause there is?

Wireless syncing isn't fast enough to supplant physical syncing yet, and there's no point in NOT having the fastest wired syncing possible when you HAVE to be wired to charge anyway.

It's plenty fast! You sleep for 8 hours don't you? Is 8 hours not enough for a daily syncing and backups? Books sync within seconds- so I guess the only situation I could see a faster transfer being needed is a last minute flight your trying to get to and you want to download a movie or tv show or something. Otherwise- wireless fits the bill.

You're talking about changing the cable and having people have to buy new chargers, dock connectors, etc- OR have an extra hole in the device with another cable included in the box. The chances of THAT happening before they do wireless charging is slim. Very slim. Wireless charging should occur in the next couple years I would assume. I find it improbable that they would change their entire setup right before a real revolutionary change.
