Everyone stop complaining. The ugly map is only there for a few weeks until apple announces the new maps they've spent the last 8 years developing.

I know because I see them nearly everyday they will blow google away, and Apple needed to let google know they were switching now or google would have an anti-competitive change with lawsuite when apple switches to beautiful mapping!

For what purpose and to what end? An arbitrary "few weeks from now" instead of 'alongside iOS 6 like every other major feature introduction prior'?

    Well, yeah, we know that.

The maps are terrible. If they weren't ready for primetime they should not have switched over to them until they were.

It is unbelievable, and probably a bit telling of the future, when Apple release a new product with its biggest feature being a high res display, alongside something that looks as bad as these maps.

Apple should consider reinventing the razor blade industry. What is it with all these professional executives who only shave once a week? Is that the new "in" look? If they happened to be standing in line at the bank when a robbery attempt was in progress, the police might think they were part of the heist team.

Permanent 5-o'clock shadow is a legitimate facial hairstyle and has been for a while now. I do it, just not all over. Clean shave everything but the front, which I keep short.

OpenStreetMaps states that Apple is using their database originating from April 2010. On 2010-05-12 (not sure if it's December or May) OSM initiated license change from Creative Commons to another type, which would ensure that "everyone will continue using OpenStreetMaps for free".

I'm not a license expert, but the reason behind using old data seems pretty obvious here: Apple chose to use free-no-strings-attached map database as a placeholder until they will roll out their own mapping service.

Can't explain why they avoiding using Google Maps while still providing it in their own Maps app and in their frameworks for the 3rd party app developers though...

I have that look, too, but I do it all over. Let's just say my scrotum is trendy looking. I hope no one takes this post seriously.

Clean shaven 'all' over is the biz. Just go to a high end salon and ask for a 'back, crack and sack' job, and all your hard to reach areas will be all nice and baby like.

Not being bullies, Apple's also not known for crediting properly things without being nicely asked a few more times than strictly necessary. Konqueror, for example.

Also, I seem to remember a certain company pushing "Facetime" and explaining they'd open the standard. i'm still waiting to implement my Linux client :/

In the 19th century, there were not many unexplored parts of the map left. It's the Victorian Era, not the Conquistadors
