If anyone can help me i'll give them a cookie*!

I've made an Htlm presentation burned onto a hybrid mac/pc cd i have the autorun working on a pc but i don't know how to do something similar on the mac.

I want the index.html file to open when the cd is inserted. Any help would be great thanks!

*a cookie will not actually be given to the person who can answer the above question. This is simply a humerous remark

What program did you use to make a hybrid CD? I've been trying to do that with no success.

Toast should easily be able to make hybrid CDs.

I think coffee is an other thing that macs can't do.. abd there must be among the "useful" software a prog that makes coffee in winzoz..

    But to the question...

I'm afraid you can't do an autorun cd for a mac

Ehh... you can do an auto run program on macs, I've had cds fire up a program on insert, though this was in classic, not X... Not sure how to though...

You can use director coupled with an Xtra to create an autorun projector. Then you can make the projector open a web browser with that page. Director isn't available for OS X, and the projector will have to run under classic, I don't know how this will work with openeing the browser (if it will open a classic one, or the default browser...)

I don't have the Xtra required, I think it costs $100, but if you have any questions about making the projector, let me know...

Actually, this is something I'm *GLAD* the Mac doesn't do.

CD autoruns have always annoyed the hell out of me on Windows computers and floppy disk autoruns even moreso because of the slow access speed. Autoruns can also be a security risk because if you insert a disk someone else gave you that has an autorun on it, said autorun could give you a virus or otherwise trash your computer before you even get to examine the disk's contents.

    Autorun == bad mojo.

I agree with you, Brad, but for different reasons. (although yours are quite valid, I just never use cds that random people give me).

All the CDs I make are with director, and that coupled with Iconizer Pro, and (formally Ghost 3.5 but now) ResEdit, you can end up with a very nice disk that has only one thing to click on. I have yet to find a way to do that with Windows. And I think that is precisely the reason Windows auto runs are so popular - the end user doesn't have to wade through all the crap looking for the correct file to launch.

    That's my opinion, at least.

    Tip -

Holding down the shift key when inserting a CD will bypass autorun.

Ha! YUO ARE ALL TEH WRONG!!1!!1!

Haha, just kidding. There is a way though, to make a file (such as an index.html) run automatically when you put the CD in, on the Mac side... even on a hybrid CD. O and A, this should allow you do to *exactly* what you described. Observe this screenshot:

Just select your HTML file in that Autostart dialog box and you should be all set.

I didn't know about this earlier, so I tried it. It works in OS9, I would assume it would work in Classic, but there's only one way to find out...

    BTW, thanks Xaqtly.

You need Toast Titanium, but I assume you have that.

The trick is: you need to keep pushing on the 'other' button. Not even two seconds later, a drop-down menu will.... drop down, and you'll be able to choose Custom Hybrid.

Thanks for the lovely screenshot Xaqtly. I learned something. I'll probably never use it though.
