"It sure looks like this whole Quanta spiel snaps together pretty well with the buzz in the rumor mill, as well as with what some little birds have been singing around the AtAT compound for the past week or so: namely, that the long-awaited LCD iMacs are absitively posolutely going to surface at the shindig in January."
As far as I can remember, AtAT's got a rather excellent track record when it comes to rumors..
..so, yeah, it seems like the LCD iMac can be considered as confirmed. Right?
I'd say spymac's full of it. I don't see Apple selling a dual drive iMac. And why only USB on the front? Firewire would be nice too. It just doesn't add up.
SpyMac's "iMac" is LAME. I'll bet my left lung they made it up and all this talk of "inside sources" and "we'll pass more on as we gather it..." is pure fiction.
How about "we'll pass more on as we totally make it up from scratch...".
If a G4 iMac is the first hardware announcement, you can just about guess that the G5 will be introduced in the "Oh, there is one more thing" part of the keynote.

My guess is that firewire will be front mounted, as USB is still available on the KB...
God, I hope Apple doesn't make that computer. That's got to be the stupidest design put out so far.
I highly doubt Apple will stick with the ASD form factor. The ASD is a pro thing, and people would have a hard time telling the difference between that iMac and an ASD with an external CD drive between the feet. Besides, that design has already been done. I seriously doubt that Apple will "update" their most influencial computer with a design that's 2 years old.

Only when they mention "little birds" which I see they finally have. I would need a wide display and G4 though so I will stick with my TiBook for now.
hmmmm
My guess of specs:
800MHz G3
100MHz Bus
15" LCD
Radeon VE 16MB
20, 40, 60GB HD
128, 256, 256MB RAM
DVD, CDRW, Combo
$999, $1299, $1499
Think realistically here people.
How about "we'll pass more on as we totally make it up from scratch...".
TWO optical drives? CD-R and DVD? Yeah...
I LOVE their reasoning for this too.

Maybe never?

Actually, I cared when Compaq announced they were going to be bought by HP. But that's it.
