Seeing the occasional ad precede free content is fine with me, and it's the reality of providing said content. Ad-free experiences are either paid or pirated.
If the only thing Google uses this for is targeted ads, then I am not bothered at all. Don't confuse the practice of targeted ads (matching basic demographics within Google's content servers) with selling personal info directly to other companies. There is a huge difference. Take Facebook for instance, who lets your face be used in ads for products you mention. That's a far cry from McDonald's ad contract with Google that delivers McAds to Google users who search for McLocations.
the south koreans will cheat, lie, manipulate and bribe their way for a cheap buck.
The most recent assault by the koreans is the international entertainment and media industry (Hallyu), which is a propaganda push by the korean government to promote their copycat culture internationally. "The Presidential Council on Nation Branding" and "Voluntary Agency Network of Korea" (VANK) spend over $150 million dollars a year promoting and hyping the korean brand to the world.
Think the above paragraph is paranoid speculation? have a look at the their recent media mind washing propaganda they have done to promote kpoop artist PSY. A fat nobody south korean looser who mysteriously has got 120+million views counts in under a month.
This is a joint action of pathetic south korean scum “YG Entertainment, the Presidential Council on Nation Branding and Voluntary Agency Network of Korea VANK
who use zombie" korean starcraft” and Warcraft server farms to get view counts up by repetitively querying their artist videos on youtube, this is common procedure in korea. The korean governments propaganda outlets (allkpop.com, soompi.com) and paid off media outlets will “claim” that this is a new viral craze is a huge hit and people around the world love korean culture and music because of trickery like this. koreans do tricks like this to artificially pimp their non-existent culture to westerners.
Don’t you ever wonder why various unknown south korean videos get 50 million views in 1 week?
Be smart and DO not fall for the pathetic korean governments social engineering tricks.
I hate EVERYTHING korean because they steal copy and claim it as their own.
i am talking BS? live in the states? Go to your local sushi bar or Japanese restaurant. In almost all instances they are not owned by Japanese-Americans but korean-Americans. the koreans know that their native cuisine is disgusting poison (kimchi and dog meat anyone?) and people pay more for Quality Japanese cuisine. koreans "pretend" to be Japanese and sell inferior food with the high price.
That tactic is very similar to what samsung did to Apple. Copy the superior leader, pretend to be the superior leader, sell inferior products and claim the profits!
Koreans will do any trick to scam money out of people.
I hate koreans who do this and suggest everyone should BOYCOTT KOREAN products NOW
CARS-kia hyundai, licensed GDI direct injection engine technology from Mitsubishi of Japan back in 1999, claims it as their own invention. Copies honda, one example is hyundais logo (H logo is ripped of from hondas H). copy and pretend, rinse and repeat....
TECHNOLOGY-easy: samscum- rips off and violates apples patents, got caught resulting in multi Bilion dollar fine.
MUSIC-kara-snsd. kpop. fake no talent losers who bleach their face, get tons of face surgery and dye their hair blonde to look white, plagiarises US artists
BOYCOTT THE FOLLOWING KOREAN PRODUCTS
SAMSUNG
LG
Hyundai
Kumho/Hankook Tires
kia
Hynix
Hanjin
ALL korean propaganda outlets such as YG Entertainment and S.M. Entertainment
IT is perfectly ok buy apple products that have got some korean components such as memory, SSD and displays because samsung,LG,hynix make little profit on their OEM and supplier division. Koreans make make the gains on the branded devices like TVs, cars and cellphones which have huge profit margins.
HIT south korea HARD AND BOYCOTT SOUTH KOREAN COMPANIES!
Why would you want ads at all? Only fools actually like, and want advertisements.
Also, what makes you think they are only going to show you the stuff that's relevant to you anyway? They are going to show you an advert every time regardless of whether it "fits" with you lifestyle or whatever.
Unless there's a subscription based model for YouTube that I'm not aware of, ads are going to be displayed whether you want them or not. And since that is the case, I rather have the ads be as relevant as possible.

It seems to me that some of these people want a pay per page type of internet service.....
If Apple was in fact "selling on" the information their customers give them it would be a scandal of epic proportions given that they have sworn not to and it says right in those click through agreements we all sign that they won't. They would be open to civil prosecution on a massive scale if it turns out they have done this at the very least. Perhaps even criminal prosecution from the Feds in the USA. They would also be kicked out of Europe.
No, the point is that no online ad agency is going to be effective if they're not using your personal information. That's the value they bring, being able to target specific markets. To think that Apple isn't using it is just stupid fanboy wishful thinking. And honestly, Apple probably has a lot more of your personal information than you think. I keep thinking back to that story about how it was suspected that Apple changed the App Store ratings to factor in how much users were actually using the apps. The story came and no one seemed to bat an eye about it. But how could Apple make such a change without tracking your iOS usage? Maybe it wasn't true but it mysteriously never got debunked, it just sort of died off. But you and other people here would be trying to stir up a witch hunt if it were suspected that Google were doing such tracking.
If I must have ads, I would prefer targeted ones. Stop showing me ads for booze, kids movies, abrasive cleaners, and menstural products! You don't know me at all, YouTube! *slams door, peels out of driveway*
I tried it last night and it isn't a very good app It keeps stopping during play and doesn't seem to be buffering anything. I removed, reinstalled, and rebooted my 4S and same problem. The older program works OK, as does Apple's native YouTube app. This v1.01xx has some more work before it is ready for release...
Hey if you don't like the app, the mobile version of Youtube on ios has always been quite good (and more full-featured in some ways) than app versions - I expect some catch-up though now that Google's directly authoring this.
