So just to be clear...is Soundtrack Pro officially dead and does Logic Pro X have all the functionality of Soundtrack?

Dunno, but if FCP is any guide, they'll have discontinued Soundtrack (Shake) and given its successor in Logic (Motion) some (most) of what it could do with further updates pending.

    Oh! I just realized something.

Here's somewhere that Apple can't ever afford to get rid of skeuomorphism. And here's whence Jony will be taking a leaf or two when iOS 7 doesn't pan out as well as he wants.

Logic is skeuomorphism done right. It always has been. So was iOS, mainly. I really don't think the drastic pendulum shift of iOS 7 was warranted across the board. They'll fix it in 8, though.

The information is up at the Apple site. I guess the web developers had to get to work a little earlier than normal.

Nice. Now how about releasing Aperture 4, which is about two years late...

It's LIVE on the App Store.

    Go get it.

    Installing now :)

Hoping it works as well with MIDI Guitar App as Garage band does.

\UPDATE: Jeez it's slow to get the main stuff! The app isn't large once you launch it starts the real downloading. I have high end FiOS and it is taking forever ... I guess a few others are hitting the servers too!

Not me, have there been any? I assume you mean an 'Aperture Pro X' type thing?

Agree 100% ... even if it could be made 'flatter' I love all the graphics ... :)

To be honest I am used to iOS 7 now, using it on iPhone and iPad all day. It took a while, for example I couldn't find calendar at first. Now the old iOS looks clunky to me. The few apps still using leather etc. in iOS 7, such as Find Friends, looks positively weird to me now.

That looks like a terribly skeumorphic UI too!

LOL ( I assume you are referring to the Studer not the app mentioned in a related post)

I tell you if you dropped one of those tape reels on your foot the language was very skeumorphic! too! :D

Just a question: would the current lowest-spec iMac be able to run this reasonably well for home recording purposes? I have a musician friend who's interested but he doesn't have a lot of $$ to blow on a higher-spec Mac.

It's a shame there's no way to demo the product before committing the money to it, and I won't buy it without opening up the hood and kicking the tires.

I heard it will called " a figment of everyone's imagination". In all seriousness, lots of pro shooters have jumped ship and started using LR5. Nothing in Aperture can match the tools in LR5. Maybe the file structure and workflow are clunky but the tools make switching worth it.

So basically like nigh on every other piece of software, then.

There are many things iPad could do better if it had more processor power and especially more RAM. I'm really hoping that Apple addresses these two issues in the next iPad rev. Four cores and 2GB of RAM ought to make for a huge generational leap. I'm just not sure if Apple will have the process tech available to them to give use that for iPad 5.

My experience has been good, but I do need to stress though that you can easily max out the power of an iPad if you begin to start loading up plugins on Auria. There's no way that I would be able to mix with it. But for tracking and recording or editing, it works pretty good.

I use Auria mostly on an iPad 3 , and I can max it out in no time, just loading a few plugins in.

That's why I'll definitely be getting the iPad 5 whenever that comes out. I need the power.
