My iPad 1 has served is usefulness to me and I am patently waiting to upgrade to the iPad 5 and my wife wants the iPad mini 2.
All of these rumors are all over the map. One minute the iPad mini 2 is this year the next it's 2014. The iPad 5 has had possible release dates every month since April this year. I don't mind a little speculation but this stuff drives me insane.
I also would add that I'm shocked about that price for the lower cost iphone if its true.
Of course, that translates to a $0 to $100 subsidized price in the U.S.
I wonder if they will discontinue the 4s? They may be wanting to get away from the 3.5" screen and the cost of the front and back gorilla glass enclosures.
I think most analysts have missed one important upgrade that Apple can take advantage, increasing the iPhone internet use time from 8 hours of iPhone 5 on LTE to 10 hours and talk time from 8 hours on 3G to 10 hours.
Thanks for the condescending advice, but you completely missed the point. I am not going broke buying Apple products. I own Apple stock and am looking at it from a shareholder's perspective that they could sell more products to their loyal consumer base if they spread out their product launches.
Sorry poorly worded. I wasn't trying make it personal. It should have been stated as a third person. Instead of the word 'you' I should have said if 'one... themselves to blame' but the rational is the same. Why would anyone expect someone to buy everything every year?
Apple's next-generation iPhone is believed to be facing production difficulties, much like the iPhone 5 in 2012, one analyst believes, while the rumored "iPhone Lite," revamped "iPad 5," and Haswell Retina MacBook Pros and iMacs could see release in the interim.

I pity the fool who spends 10 hours a day talking on the phone.
Ok, the name of your site is "AppleInsider" right? So when are you guys going to start writing about some inside information rather than speculation, from Apple outsiders no less? So why do I read these articles? Good question. Time for me to move on. Bye.
In a one hour meeting with Tim Cook over coffee, which cost me over $500,000, I was able to ascertain that the next generation Apple iPhone will be released in 2013.

Money well spent!
Does he really sport a constantly upside-down smile, or does it turn right-side-up once in a while?
The stuff about the iPad mini doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The mini is the most popular model by most accounts, to not have a new one for the Xmas season, even a non-retina minor upgrade, seems like a mistake. It seems unlikely they will come out with it any sooner than a few months into the new year which would make it almost a tar and a half between the first one and the second and all that with one of the hottest products they've ever made or sold. The only reason I can think of for doing it is to artificially prop up the sales of the iPad 5 and that doesn't sound much like Apple either.

Well, it used to be the case years ago that this was the place for all the inside information. Now it's those grunting beasts over at 9to5Mac that get most of the scoops and the horrible little monkey known as the Boy Genius. AppleInsider is still far more civilised though, and much more fun. And if those other fellows ever come up with something it's sure to be repeated here before the end of the day anyway so on balance, hanging out here is still best.
"While shipments forecasts may still grow sharply in 4Q13, we are concerned iPhone 5S may face the same problem as its predecessor, namely that by the time supply matures, demand will already have waned, hurting shipments," Kuo writes.
The analyst also sees shipments of the much-rumored low-cost iPhone being below expectations, though the device will be available sooner than the iPhone 5S due to a less complicated manufacturing process.
So, the anal-lyst suggests Apple should have some 100 millions, gazillions or whatever iPhones ready by end of september, sell them out till november and then bird watching till march together with manufacturers...
I can't imagine how is it to imagine such crap on weekly bases to earn for living...
Please, AI management, enough of this crap already. Take 5. Smoke 'em if you got 'em. We don't need this analyst rumor mill constantly. It's all about manipulating the stock price. We know that. It serves no useful purpose. It encourages the trolls, gives comfort to the haters, and gets on the agenda of the next anti-Apple talking points conference.
Frankly it is baseless speculation and doubtful if there is any research at all to back it up. I know rumors are hard to come by nowadays but really this is the publishing industry, hire somebody to write that has talent and an understanding of the field. No DED isn't an example of talent nor a person with an understanding of the field. It really is important to have some substance to a publication. I realize there is a certain fun aspect to a rumors site but that doesn't excuse this non sense coming from the analysts.
So yeah let's replace some of this crap drizzle with articles of substance. Maybe a series on XCode, python programming or Apple script programming. Maybe a series on self publishing via IBooks Author. There is much that can be written you only need to understand the subject field and have a talent for writing.

Cook said the new products were coming in Fall, which starts in late September. Thus, the iPhone 5S is NOT delayed and the other items are early.

I agree. That doesn't leave much time to come here to gripe about how Apple is doomed and how $AAPL is tanking again. ;-)

I believe if the internet use time on LTE is increased from 8 hours to 10 hours the talk time will increase correspondingly.

Yes, because Apple always fails to meet the deadlines and promises set by pundits, tech bloggers, and analysts.
