2 release per year makes sense, as 2 models at the same time detracts from each other Wouldn't be surprised to see a larger screened IPhone before Apples normal cycle of Sept-iOct. Perhaps a release in June-July like the STeve Jobs era
Glad this thread turned into bashing Apple for not having a larger screen /s
Although analyst are, well, we all know.
If true, this could help
Relieve component constraints due to high volume spikes.
Better plan with suppliers your components needs so it is not feast or famine, thus removing some strain on their end ramping up and down. Should save cost.
As the iPhone is more trickle down, it makes sense the flagship is 6 months ahead of the mid-tier to further distinguish the flagship and to level out supply for the above two reasons.
The iPad sells based on form factor (which the iPhone may or may not do as well) which may have even more distinguishing features moving forward, thus having separate releases will help to define each form factor and ease production. As the iPads are sharing more features, this margin between the two might be 3 months, not 6 making sure key shopping seasons (aka Christmas) are fully stocked. Any mid-tier iPad could then move out to the 6 month marker.
Leveling the component supply chain as well as production, along with further distinguishing tiers by release would be a logical progression as the demand for Apple's iDevices continue to grow.
You don't want to take this to extreme as people won't want to stand in line every month for your products.
This seems like a more exciting prospect than anything else in this post. I'm imagining brick and mortar stores that have no need to carry inventory.
Suddenly you can fit a specialized store in any little hole in the wall. Folks can come in to touch and feel your product, use their phone to place an order, and then leave empty-handed knowing that their new widget is on its way to your home. No longer must you carry around bags and bags of stuff while shopping!
I seriously want Apple or a large, credible app developer to be the first to create a secure, end-to-end Bitcoin trading system. With the fingerprint reader, secure access to one's Bitcoin wallet and easy transactions would be a quantum leap above today's solutions. Put money into your Bitcoin wallet using iTunes at home, iTunes kiosks in stores, or using iTunes gift cards. That would be great.
I hate the new split lignup of iPhones and sure hope that they don't continue, or at the least add one every other year, but who knows, the iPhone 6(or whatever) what is it going to released with? 5CS, 5SC, 6C, 5CC, the next year, it just seems the name will screw up at some time.
That's the reason for the constant harping of the analysts about "mid range": outside the US, pricing is significantly inflated and if Apple were to price phones more competitively there are a lot of potential sales they could snatch away from Samsung.
More competitively? The 5C is already a top. 3 seller in the major US carriers and probably the top 5 in the rest if the world. It isn't going to be #1 due to the 5S.
Many believe that Apple is in the early stages of a strategy that would use Touch ID alongside iOS 7's Bluetooth-based iBeacons functionality to create a new mobile payment system.
What is Apple's aversion to NFC? All retailers in Australia are installing NFC readers for contactless payment. iPhone owners have to attach a chip embeded in a sticker...
Wow, Tim released some future plan and strategies to an analysts who couldn't make up her own guesstimating and rumors... Need to give her a lot of credit.

I see no evidence that Apple has an eversion to the technology but slapping in a chip to (1) service a small number of people compared to their entire market reach and (2) not having adequately APIs, frameworks, services, and security in place to make it viable aren't not something they tend to do.
iPhone + April release Larger iPhone display ~5" slightly faster A7 but essentially same as 5S
iPhone (successor to current 5s retains 4" display) ~October
iPhone C (successor to 5C with 5s internals) ~October
2015 rinse and repeat. They will have to eventually drop the numbers. Let the current 5S model just be called iPhone. The plastic colored one can keep the C, and a larger one might be called iPhone +, or L, X or some other letter
This would allow 2 release cycles every year and keep the excitement up year round. There wouldn't be a shortage like there would if they were all released in October. The C will continue being a recycled iPhone in a plastic shell but look for bolder and darker colors in 2014. People that want cheaper, current form factor, and larger would all be happy. Product grid complete and watch Samsung share drop.
Actually the larger iPhone might get the name Air or Pro . I just used a + as an example but both of those would be good monikers to help differentiate the line.
I called a conspiracy theorist a moron. It was justified. At least, it would be if they’d go ahead and take that post down, since not a word of it is anywhere remotely close to being true.

I believe she meant staggered releases.

Fall 2014 = iPhone 6
Spring 2015 = iPhone 6C
Fall 2015 = iPhone 6S
Spring 2016 = iPhone 6CS

What about the end of the article?
