So Kormac, in your opinion, why is Apple always 'behind schedule'?

BTW, the convergence is at MWNY.

    - You can watch TV program from all over the world using new MPEG-4 based internet TV which is using QuickTime 6.

    &lt;---- We need OS X 1.2 with Quicktime 6 to do this. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

    - And with Gigawire, You will be able to control many new digital device for the HOME appliance which will be coming from many company. He introduce SONY, SAMSUNG as their partner !

&lt;---- May 14. It is just began

    - It might have new audio connector which is Dolby surround mode ?

&lt;---- need OSX 1.2 with Quicktime 6

Steve say that " We have showed iPod and there will be more to come. And iMac is the THE Home network server for Digital Hub.

Everybody think it is O.K but not that much!

    Where is the beef?

Than Steve begin to talk about use of G4 in iMac.

Steve: Now you know that we used G4 for iMac. Then what should we do for PowerMac line ?

IT will be G5 base from Now!

    &lt;--- MWNY (?) <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

All the function of iMac II plus this.

    - it will have new Case.

    &lt;--- It will be.

    - It will have two Raycer chipset for faster Rendering on 3D: Now we know Raycer chip can be multi-process capable.

    &lt;----- Hypertransport .

    - The final announcement is that:

Steve: we had MHz fighting with other CPU. Now no more! low one is 1.2GHz, Middle one is 1.4GHz, High one is 1.6GHZ. AND......

    All in Dual CPU configuration!!.

&lt;--- Well We will see what will happen at MWNY.

-We have to help Moto's sales to keep up with their CPU production to continue!

    Part3 will come tommorow!.

P.S.: If you read old KORMAC76 post, many of this function was there 7 month ago!

To Fran441: APPLE is WAY behind schedule !

I think it was because of delay of several technology , such as

-good OS X with full function, - OS X 1.5

:I think full fuction can be working with OS X 2.0 which might come at MWSF 2003.

-delay of Gigawire ( original schedule for certification was end of last year.)

-Licensing problem with MPEG-4 and delay of QuickTime 6

: QuickTime 6 is still beta and not finalized yet.

difficulty of implementation of New architechture.

    And many other things .....

To allen : Some part might right. I will give you a clue later.

But Server can be good development platform for developer.

Except , it does not require good graphic capability and multimedia fuctionality !

    - That mean no need for raycer technology and Domino technology !. MWNY will be the day for Professional machine with such a technology.

For the Apple Display , here is useful information.

    <a href=" =news" target="_blank"> =news</a>

" The 23W TFT-LCD, designed for monitors and HDTVs is a wide UXGA model, offering a wide viewing angle of 160 degrees - reducing gray scale inversions and ensuring color integrity, regardless of the viewer°s position. With a 1920 x 1200 resolution, the 23W display was developed to meet OEM demands for a larger, wider LCD format, and is based on LG.Philips LCD°s award-winning 22W platform. Similar to other LG.Philips LCD displays, the 23W°s slim design (only 25mm thick) requires less workspace, while the display itself consumes less power, emits lower electromagnetic radiation, and lessens end-user eyestrain, compared to a CRT-based solution of similar resolution and size. As an added benefit, the 23W can also fit into the footprint of some existing 22-inch monitor designs, significantly reducing the system integration costs for OEMs. The 23W is slated to begin mass production in late January 2002."

The current Apple Cinema Display used 22W one.

And who was the only OEM company for the 22W model ? APPLE.

    For the other TFT Monitor,

"LG.Philips LCD°s new 17W display is designed for new wide monitor formats, all-in-one PCs, and personal computer TV (PCTV) applications. The wide-format display offers 1280 x 768 resolution, a color saturation of 65 percent, brightness of 400cd/m2, and a fast response time of 25ms. Furthermore, it is extremely thin (16.2 mm) and weighs only 19 grams. Volume production of the 17W will begin by late this December. "

    - It was Year 2001 article.

"In an effort to meet the OEM demands for standardized LCD sizes, LG.Philips LCD also unveiled the 30W TFT-LCD for today°s HDTV market. The 30W boasts an impressive, wide viewing angle of 170 degrees, a brightness of 450 cd/m2, and a resolution of 1280 x 768. The 30W provides better clarity by removing most of the color-spreading phenomenon usually associated with LCDs and moving pictures. In addition to its large screen size and slim form factor (46 mm), this display also offers a high contrast ratio of 450:1 and an aspect ratio of 16:9.6. "

"In an effort to meet the OEM demands for standardized LCD sizes,"

Who is this OEM company that want to standardized LCD sizes for ALL WIDE FORMAT ?

You will see new LCD Display from Apple that All new Display are WIDE and HDTV ready spec.

Guess why APPLE wanted to get rid of current LCD Display by end of last year ?

    Part3 will be coming shortly.

Hmmm... look a like CinemaDisplay HD spec!

To matsu: I did not say about SAMSUNG 24 inch. Just think about it.

    To allen :

    i****v2 is seperate product.

The samsung's concept is very limited. It is only Web able terminal for home network and it does not have many function which only APPLE can make.

If Apple call i****v2 as iPAD, I will not suprise.

I will talk about it at my part 5 story.

    To SYN:

Gigawire is Next version of Firewire: IEEE1394b. However there is IEEE1394g spec which is wireless protocol.

I think APPLE is putting both concept as one name. Therefor It will not to be confused.

You have to see the concept of Firewire. Originally , it was design to use as connecting protocol for computer , like Harddisk, Printer.

But Sony use it for CAMcoder and many other way of use has been developed and the use will increase very large soon.

New IEEE1394b & 1394g added new functinalty to the protocol that it can do something no other could imagine!

    And M$ still don't understand it !

    Part 3

Steve bring Product manager from Aliace/Wavefront to show new Maya.

ThankÂ?s to Dual Raycer chipÂ?s capability, it show the best speed and quality in any platform.

Then he bring Manager from Finalcutpro to show how fast the rendering of HDTV Editing can be done.

&lt;--- I have something to give you as clue later for this.

He bring Adobe Photoshop manager to show New photoshop 7Â?s speed!

Also he show the New capability of Sound system New PowerMac G5 have.

-OS X can use more than 2 channel of sound. AC-3, Dolby surround, MIDI by Firewire, ring a bell ?

Also He show the capability of new bus using data transfer rate of New SCSI 320 !

&lt;---- What can APPLE be using Internal RAID system in 4U server ?

Steve: To match with this new system, We are announcing new Cinema Displays!

17 inch wide, 20 inch wide and 23 inch wide TFT-LCD based Cinema Display!

&lt;---- Will we see 20 inch in Near future ?

    - Wide format make it look smaller than regular aspect ratio TFT-LCD.

Steve: How is this system! it is the best system you can buy in whole world!

But We wanted to beyond that !

    Everybody getting interesting now!

We will have New machine to show! It is our new PowerMac G5 Quad 1.6GHZ !

    - Well. What do you think about this at MWNY.

This is so fast that it is the Best!

He show Maya demo again with Quad system compare to dual system and it is twice fast!

However , it need New OS X 1.2 and we will deliver it early march!

    - Change to Jaguar. Another 6 month delay ! <img src="graemlins/embarrassed.gif" border="0" alt="[Embarrassed]" />

Everybody disappointed for delay. However everybody think something strange that steve announce this system so early!

Steve: You might have question that why We introduce something like this so early. I have to tell you something more today !

The PC market is slowing down & everybody think there is nothing computer industry can create new area because everything was done.

I think that is not so. The future belongs to new area of computing which only could solved by Million dollar super computer !

Like DNA research, Engineering CAD system, and many many scientific calculation !

These problem was beyond of PCÂ?s ability! So we decided to go beyond the PC's limit!

But for APPLE, to get into this area will take too much time consuming and very costly.

To solve this problems for APPLE, we decided to do something big!

    Today we announce .......

To be continue with Part 4.

Let Raycer go, nothing came of it. If it shows up anywhere it will be in a graphics chip that Apple may or may not be developing with nVidia.

To Bodhi: I think Raycer is not graphics chip.

I will talk about Raycer later.

However think about the architecture of SGI O2 with OpenGL implementation.

The concept of raycer technology which was patented was get lid of all of hiddne line or vertex before the GPU will process !.

With this, The speed of complex 2D,3D can be 100 ~ 1000 times fater than now and you don't need expensive GPU for 3D calculation !.

Guess, Fully Gurad shade City model ( 100 Mil vertex ) with reflection in realtime rendering!

Don't you think this is perfect system for 3D VR ?

The 32MB memory is requirement for optimal Z-buffer, I think. because you don't need large memory. You need good memory for screen size.

Do you understand what I am talking about ?

And to me, i****v1 was PDA concept.

    But i****v2 was NOT.

    Ask Fran441, I think he know what I mean . <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
