Seems more reasonable that you're looking at tariffs, taxes, and/or several layers of markup by middlemen. I can't imagine that Apple would just be engaged in price gouging in India out of common greed.

I saw an ad here in India the other day for a brand new iPhone 4. I thought maybe it was a typo, but maybe not. iOS 7 is so frustrating on my 4S I can't imagine using it on a 4.
Awesome! Looks like iOS 8 will support iPhone 4 then! Or so we hope.

The US prices:
8GB at $179
16GB at $199
The India prices: * $1 = ?63
8GB at ?12,499 = $198.3
16GB at ?13,999 = $222.2
Difference:
8GB : +$19.3, a 10.8% premium
16GB : +$23.2, a 11.6% premium
Here's the Moto G page, US:

And the one showing the exclusive launch in India, courtesy Flipkart.com (a company better than Amazon India here):

Now compare these to the Apple 'premiums':
iPhone 5s 16GB : +$200.2, a 30.8% premium
iPhone 5c 16GB : +$116.1, a 21.1% premium
Still wanna think Apple is the incorruptible, cant-be-greedy white knight?
Bit surprised they're not making a 4C version if cost/price is the main consideration.
It seems every other site has published this as fact rather then rumors. Let see how it goes.
