Literal Translation = Tablets: Surface is a work tool, iPad it's (for) fun.
The article goes on to say how Surface tablets are used 9-to-5 while Android and iOS devices are neck and neck later in the day around transit hours, peaking around 8 pm and longer into the evening. Nothing different than what's reported here and what's in the study. It does refuse to mention the fact that iOS devices and specifically the iPad are used in relation to Android tablets 4:1.
The German press still enjoys taking pot-shots and twisting reality any way they can against Apple. The major media outlets and publishing concerns continue to do anything they can to downplay the influence of iOS, with Apple being responsible Bad Guy #1 for readership losses. Nut-Shell: they bet on the wrong horse so now they're trying to cripple it.
Reality on the ground is that businesses*, career-oriented and middle to upper income-class consumers are embracing Apple more and more, and are starting to give up the wait for MS (mobile and security concerns). In addition the German public is accepting the truth about Android: it's not for professionals; it's far from the utility and ease of use as an iOS device; and Google is trampling on their constitutional right to Data Privacy, something held quite dear here (NSA being beyond commenting on).
* Converted 2 more businesses from PC and Android to all-in Apple so far this month
NOTE: if the rumors of the new iPhone 6 having a larger display (not necessarily being physically larger) come true... I am going to be swamped! "Tiny screen" is the largest (somewhat) negative comment regarding the switchers, who mostly are coming on board from Galaxy's.
"Android Sees Significant Daytime Usage; iPad Usage in Freefall Night After Night"
LOL, that was my response, you beat me to it. Looking at that graph, I have to wonder if the owners of the Microsoft crap have figured out how to turn them on?

Sadly enough, that's exactly what this headline on the largest German computer website "spins" in response to the same study:

i think that most of the Android tablets only download games for children to play. Internet shopping or research is not the target use.
Absolutely true. And I even found a chart to prove it! https://d28wbuch0jlv7v.cloudfront.net/images/infografik/normal
