    Holy googley moogley, murbot!

That was a great series of posts there and the first time I ever saw the chronological progression of your Mac escapades. You have had (and let go of) some GREAT machines...any of which, I'd be proud to own!

You know, therapy might not be a bad suggestion...

Just kidding. Whatever makes you happy. I think you should wait until MWSF, though. You never know.

A new redesigned iMac would take you into March or so, then by then a revved iBook will probably be out. April, May, June, July...there's MWNY. There's a G5 that will hold you for 3-5 months, just in time for the 2002 holiday season. Then you could...

    Oooh...I'm getting dizzy.

Nah, he shouldn't wait. He'll get a new one and then replace that with something introduced at MWSF.

    Wow, so many suggestions! lol

Hey MacsKickAss, long time no see, how are ya? I'll do exactly what you recommended - as soon as I win the lottery.

Yeah, only machines a fool would get rid of.... heh heh. It's even worse when you see all those machines listed out like that in order. It really hit home what a freak I am.

About the iPod - I haven't ordered one, but came pretty close. I think I'll have one before long.

It's scary reading your posts here guys, it's like I'm reading my thoughts before I even have them. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerd.

I'm actually not sure what the heck to buy next. I'm not going to bother thinking about it today, I've got to go out in the driving wind and shovel snow for a couple of hours, then it's onto the couch for the day.... GREY CUP TIME!

    Go Stamps!

It sounds like Murbot was usually able to re-sell these machines for close to (or more than) what he paid for them. Given that, I don't think it's so crazy to switch machines frequently.

My girlfriend's sister keeps buying new cars, selling them at a huge loss within months, and buying something else. Something like 6 cars in 3 years, taking a loss of several thousand dollars each time. Now THAT is a sickness.

I just sold my year-old blueberry iBook and bought a new iBook 600 with combo drive. Of course I didn't get all my money back out of the blueberry iBook, but I was satisfied to get about 60% of what I paid for it. Probably could have gotten a bit more but I was selling it to a friend as his first Mac, so I gave him a sweet deal. Easier than e-bay, too.

I've got another friend who wants to buy my G4-450DP, so I could be in the market for a G5 w/Superdrive before too long....

Yeah, it's a little tough to tell I guess in that shot, but it is a Quicksilver 867. I've had 2 towers, the 466 and 867.

Since his last posting, Murbot has purchased a Dalmatian iMac, sold it, purchased an iBook DVD, sold it, purchased a used Umax J700 with 32mb RAM, sold it, purchased a G4-800dp and Superdrive, sold it, and purchased a pair of Powerbook G4s.

    *sigh*

I don't know guys. I'm sending out the PowerBook today, assuming the buyer's money order gets here this morning like it should. I'm in a bit of a bind though, I don't like the prospect of going without a Mac for 2 months (buying a scarcely shipping new Mac in 5 weeks), and I'm scared to buy anything else for fear it will be revamped in Jan.

I will probably be getting a desktop of some kind. I actually was going to grab my third iMac, as they're great computers, but they're just not that great feature wise for the price right now. And the G4s aren't the best deal either. I'd slit my wrists if I bought a 733 or something with an LCD, only to see MUCH faster towers in Jan with newly priced LCDs...

Yeah I could buy and sell before the Expo.. .. but it gets pretty tough to do that so close to new products coming out.

Ah, I dunno what the hell to do. Maybe I'll just take a month long hiatus from computers and hit the gym regularly or something. I have a feeling I will thank myself when MWSF hits us.

I'm sure I don't need to give YOU this advice, Murbot (grand master of hardware turnover), but.... rather than go without any Mac for several months, just find the best possible deal on a not-quite-current machine and try to resell it for most of what you paid for it, when the G5 is finally ready.
