Couldn't you buy a decked out powerbook and then sell it when the new machines are released? Or, maybe you could cram your order so full with extras that it would take Apple a couple of weeks to assemble it and before they finish, change your order to a new tower? Just some ideas. Anyway, get the best machine your employer's money can buy, even if it's a PC.
Yeah but the condition of the funding is that once I have got the money I have to make a hardware purchase right away and I must get all those equipments ready no later than mid Feb
That means the only choice for me now is a PC. And I will have to pay for the G5 myself
Timing,timing,timing....sucks

(trying to THINK DIFFERENT here)
here's an idea...lease a dual 800 and use your money to buy kick-ass peripherals...a cinema display, storage SAN, whatever. then in a year, your lease ends and you can get your G5...in the meantime you have the best gear out there and while it's true you'll have to buy the G5 CPU, you'll be totally hooked up on everything else.
Hey marc. My projects is now my top priority. Choosing equipment is just second. Buying a PC probably is my choice this time.

It's not the end of the world, Leonis. Just buy the hottest hot-rod dual Athlon, keep using your Macs at home for fun, and then in a year or so you can spend all the money you've earned at this job on a quad G5 2.8ghz machine with 16gb RAM and other good stuff!
You can still be a Mac lover even if you use a Windows machine some of the time. I'm typing this on a Win2k machine right now!
