Incredibly brash, since there is no company on the planet more akin to Big Brother than Google.

    Google is always watching.

Facebook is right up there, too.  But you're right, in that it's quite a statement coming from a Google employee.

ETA: There's an article over at Ars that may shed some light on Gundotra's departure.  Briefly, Google is possibly going to end the forced Google+ integration, and also move 1k+ employees from the Google+ experiment into the Android platform work.  Read more: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/04/report-google-to-end-forced-g-integration-drastically-cut-division-resources/

Google should be Google + in my original comment.

In fact, Google has annoyed many users (such as YouTube users) by requiring them to sign up for Google +. I think part of the reason he get fired is there are so many YouTube users' complaints.

I agree that forcing Google+ on users in an attempt to make us use it as much as Facebook and Twitter was annoying.

When setting up new Android handsets you have to be pretty attentive to avoid Google +.

Google should have fired Eric Schmidt instead of Vic Gondotra.

-Eric failed to buy Facebook and put Vic between a rock and a hard place to compete.

-Google is about to get challenged big time in search as users migrate to portable devices outside the office.

-Google should have bought Facebook but now Facebook may buy them out in a few years.

-Perhaps google's robots should wear google glasses, they booth look like dead ends right now.

-Brin and Page are afraid of getting fired they grab all the voting rights.

-Google is infatuated with design now.  Apple wanna be syndrome?

Eric Schmidt has long gone from the CEO position. And he admitted that much about the social media failures when he left.

But there are many cases that companies come from behind and win the war. Google is the obvious one in search. FB behind MySpace.

Apple in smart phone, tablets and MP3 players.

?It is not easy to compete with FB. But you can't drag the whole google company down with you in the battle. But that has been what Google has been doing with Google+.

It is a good thing for Google to realize the problem and fire the guy.

On this site, only Apple is a success story. Everyone else who dares to compete with it is a loser in every way and wrong about everything and should probably go bankrupt.
