Microsoft started using a 2D style interface before Apple and Google. they also integrated the mobile and desktop environment before anyone else(not that they did it correctly, but they did it first) even after Microsoft introduced the Zune software. Apple redesigned iTunes to look more like it. after all Microsoft is a software company first and foremost so they would know software. I guess the world watches what Microsoft does more than people give them credit for(good or Bad). I use Linux and Android now. mainly because Apple and Microsoft are trying to hard to be all things to all people, and until they figure this mess out. i'll stay with what works best for me. Linux and Android can be both powerful and simple with many choices on tap.
