Watching my wife wrestle with Android as she struggles to master her new GoogleSlab, I find it hard to be even theoretically interested in Android hardware.
Despite all the anti-Apple, up-the-Android barking, screeching, cage-rattling & other sober opinion from the Android crowd, it is proving a serious annoyance for her, and that's with expert help (not me, friend @ Microsoft). She didn't start with big expectations: just an e-reader, and some FB. It has become an ongoing battle for her to not get pissed off and pitch it.
She has never handled an iPad. She has been in tech an easy 20 years.
Only a tiny minority of Android users are even on the newest OS.
That's a silly argument against buying a new tablet. New tablet = latest OS, why would anyone buying a new tablet care what version of OS other people are using?

Just sayin'
My 12 and 14 yr old kids at the time had no problem operating a nexus 7.
Lol! Me too! I am so proud of her, really. One can say it changed her life. She was always bored and never did anything. Her PC desktop was gathering dust because the load-up and Windows was always a pain for her to use, so she never did. Got her an iPad 2 a couple of Christmases ago and since then she has incorporated it into her high school classroom teachings, joined several online groups of individuals within her age group and shared interests who meet up and do cool stuff together, and from that social experience finally met the love of her life and is happy with her personal identity for once. All due in no small part to the ease of use, comfortably and portability of Apple' a iPads.
What a great ad something like this would make (instead of some of the self-absorbed nonsense that's currently being trotted out by Apple)!
Give me a bloody break. It's #31 out of the 33 'still' wallpaper choices that Apple offers. Moreover, the company never shows something like that cr4p in its ads or collateral material, unlike Samsung which is leading with it.
Let's see.. that Octacore processor has 8, what... 32-bit cores? Laughable. Android can make use of what, maybe two of those cores? The camera may have megapixels, but probably has terrible quality, slow focus and more. We already know the terrible quality of that fingerprint scanner.
But, alas... some people will be fooled into thinking this is some how better than the iPad Air or iPad Mini with Retina, go get one and then sit it on a shelf when they find the 300 apps that are built for tablets on Android really don't change their lives.
I'm not a fan of Samsung tablets in general as they just feel cheap, especially for the price they are charging. However, I have to say the Nexus 10 is a pretty good device but it was just built by Samsung not designed. The mid-level series of Samsung tablets are a complete mystery to me, why anyone would buy, say a Tab 3 or Tab 4 instead of the Nexus 10 is absolutely beyond me. The Tab 4 is 400 dollars on Amazon, even more expensive then Samsung's Tab Pro 10.1. Plus Samsung just have way to many tablet models.
Android can utilize every core of the Exynos processor, not sure where you got your information from stating it doesn't but it's wrong. Though I agree Android has some issues, the most current version is very good, especially when used in conjunction with a Nexus device. It's crap like TouchWiz and Sense that give Android a bad name. When unmolested Android can be a very useful OS, especially when you have apps like ES FileManger. With this app you can access every cloud storage service, local, mounted SD Cards/hard drives, NAS drives and any computer that's not only on your network but any that can be accessed through SFTP. The program mounts all of these storage devices as if it's a local drive so copying files across is as easy CTRL-C. CTRL-V. This is just a small example of what a good Android app can do.
I am in no way trying to convince you to convert or even try a Nexus 10 but its getting a little old reading all of these comments about how bad Android is, because it's not. I own at least one tablet from each of the mobile OS's that are currently available, they all have their weaknesses and strengths but most importantly their uses.
Why, this is just a promotion from Sears trying to get people interested in their online shop, it's not from Samsung. DataQuest, a local Apple chain here was giving away a 100 dollar iTunes card when you purchased a new iPad Air, same thing. If you also read the details it's not cash back but points towards future purchases, worth up to 105 dollars and you can't use all of the points on any one product.
That's a silly argument against buying a new tablet. New tablet = latest OS, why would anyone buying a new tablet care what version of OS other people are using?
I don't think the point is against buying the table, as much as it is a statement on how easy it is to upgrade to the latest software once you make the purchase. Basically, what the Android arena is presenting is a model whereby to upgrade one must purchase a new piece of hardware even if that is not the desire. This seems to work fine in the cell phone arena but I'm not so sure it has the same affect for tablets. Only time will tell if this strategy is maintainable or not. Personally, I like to have my hardware for more than 6months to a year and just upgrade the software. Much less hassle.

Putting a product on 'sale' before it goes on sale?
And, Apple's iPad Air being bundled with iTunes stuff when it was announced as a pre-order at your "local Apple chain"? I'd like to see the evidence.
So after their criminally bad fingerprint sensor that got blasted in reviews for being completely useless, instead of taking the time to go back to the drawing board and re-engineer it, they just go ahead and slap it on their tablets too. This is Samsung's DNA, which shows you the level of absolute contempt they have towards their users consider Samsung having contempt for the users that keep them in business.
I think that's a bit strong of an assumption. Samsung suffers from design by committee, and a kitchen sink mentality. These are quirks many technology companies have but doesn't mean they hate us as customers.

No, I'm just saying that this is just a promotion from Sears not Samsung and you don't actually get 105 dollars back but small incremental discounts. Designed to keep someone coming back to Sears online store, this has nothing to do with the inadequacy of the device as your suggesting.
I was in the market for my first tablet & looked at the Ipad Air next to the Samsung Tab S. I have to say the screen was much better for displaying photos on the Tab S. The Tab S supports sRGB & RGB Pro which for somebody interested in using a Tablet to display there photo portfolio is stunning & a first. I have yet to move my photo work flow to RGB pro as my computer screen doesn't support it but am looking forward to the sale of 4k amoled computer screens coming on the market as an affordable option like the Tab S. The Tab S has a flash/video light built-in which is just logical. I will probably buy the next Note 12.2 if it has this screen. If your interest is in photography then I would check out this Tab S.

Samsung has a far better UI then any other Android device.
Subjective much? Nexus interfaces are much preferred by everyone I know who's tried both.

Like the wallpaper that comes with iPads?

This headline that I just saw says it all: "Deal Alert: Sears Offers $105 Off, Free Case with Pre-order of 10.5” Samsung ...DailyTech"
How pathetic it that......

We now know what will allow Samsung to become the world's no.1 tablet vendor by the end of this year as wrote IDC research firm.
Let Samsung introduce to the world, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S, the Ipad killer.
