Are we 13 years old and unable to handle criticism? You went on the offensive, attacking Apple for their supposed "lack of diversity" in their advertisements. It is common sense that you must defend such allegations.

There's nothing wrong with criticism when its contructive. His criticisms are destructive.

Telling someone their posts are "pointless" and "not valid" does nothing for that person. How has he helped?

When did this suddenly become an attack against Apple? How many times must I point out that I'm making a comment about what I saw on Apple's ads??

I'm not foaming at the mouth in disgust of Apple. Geez, I'm just making observations!

I can't believe you can defend personal attacks. Whats up with that?

Yes, your post didn't make sense.

    The ones you listed = 2/5 = 40%

Mr. iPod Beat = in his 30s, I'd guess. Mr. iBook = teenager.

You forgot iTunes "Rip. Mix. Burn"

I mentioned print ads only because they are icing. They further dilute your argument.

You didn't admit that you were wrong about me mentioning "iTools (mac.com)".

I personally think that the iBook kid is in his 20s, but what would I know? I also feel that the iPod guy is under 30.

iTunes doesn't show that all those artists are using the product.

There's no arguement anymore. Why are you turning this into such a heated debate? Why are you continually personally attacking me? Why aren't you answering my questions about your personal attacks?

Why didn't you apologize for the selective memory comment??

I admitted I was probably off base after pscastes last post. He got his point across in a reasonable, adult manner. You're not doing anything for your point by belittling me and making this a spitting match.

You've gained nothing but making me lose respect for you. If you think I'm an idiot for trying to bring up discussion, even if that discussion turned out not to be valid, than so be it. Its not at all because I disagree with you. Pscates totally disagrees with me, but if anything I've gained much more respect for him because of his conduct.

I'm really starting to lose my faith in AI. I'm almost pleading for some sense of reason from you, yet you continue this hostility towards me.

Your initial post and even subsequent posts were just as critical of Apple and hostile to some. You created fault in Apple when there was none. I am merely extending that same courtesy back upon you.

Well, I didn't realize being critical of Apple wasn't allowed here. I wasn't trying to be critical of them, but if it came off that way, sorry. I was merely bringing up something I observed.

So I guess I deserve being ridiculed because I apparently criticized a big corporation? That seems fair.

I'm sorry to anyone that thought I was being hostile to them, I didn't mean it.

Eugene, why haven't you apologized for the selective memory comment? You were clearly wrong about that. I haven't "extended the same courtesy back upon you" for all of your personal attacks. I thought I was being civil. I guess you don't think so since you can't even give me the respect for an apology.

Yeah, I misread your post because you did forget an ad, only you forgot one that would have benefitted your position.

Does that look like a man in his 20s? I mean, shucks, you weren't even sure if he was white or not...

So it boils down to 20-30 year old males + a commercial with a dozen people of all types. Wow, such a lack of diversity.

Once again you dodge the questions about personal attacks.

I admitted I was off base, so this thread should be closed.

There's no point in even responding to you since you ignore my questions anyway. This thread isn't about diversity anymore, its about you spitting in my face.

Mods please lock it. There's no class left in any of the posts.

    Eugene,

Where the hell do you get off using this against Willoughby? These two sentences ALONE show me that you're simply trying to attack him.

In Willoughby's defense, you HAVE been dodging his questions, you HAVE blown his previous posts way out of proportion, and you HAVE been personally attacking him.

Have you paid no attention to that admins' comments on the forums main page or Peacekeeper's thread in AppleOutsider? The kind of crap you've been pulling on this thread is EXACTLY what those are talking about.

Back off, man! Willoughby was making un-critical, thought-provoking comments on the Mac USERS in Apple's latest TV commercials. From my perspective, they HAVE been skewed to males in their 20's or 30's, without much regard to the other gender, or other age groups. Willoughby repeatedly commented that he didn't want this thread to start playing the race card, and yet that's all this thread has come down to.

Stick to Willoughby's intentions on commenting about the ads. The criteria:

    1) Mac users in the ads

    2) The characters' age

    3) The characters' gender

The FACTS are, the only people we've seen actually USING a Mac in Apple's latest ads are 20/30 something males. If Apple is going for the "other 95%," they need to diversify this group some, whether it's exactly proportional to real society. I can tell you from my personal production experience for a broadcast TV station, that diversity in ads/promos/stories means one of as many different groups as possible -- no matter how they are actually represented in society.
