I bought one of the first 5GB original iPods back in 2001 just days after they announced it. Maybe it was he same day, not sure. I kept upgrading for the capacity increases, to a 10GB, a 20GB, 30GB, 60GB, and finally to the 160GB. Like many here, while I like my iPhone, I just need more storage space for my music collection. Even with the 160GB, I have to leave some stuff off.
I still use my 6th gen 160GB classic from 2007 every day as my main car music source. As soon as I read today that they've finally discontinued the 7th gen classic (or at least removed it from the online store), I went and bought one from newegg. Figure I'll store it away for a while in case my 6th gen dies. I suppose if I hold on to it for tooooo long, the battery will sort of crap out, but we'll see.
I wish Apple would refresh the iPod Classic. The other iPod models don't offer enough storage space. Most of my music is uncompressed, so I need as much space as I can get.
You're in the tiny, tiny minority, so your use case does not justify Apple refreshing the model. iPods provide enough space for 98% (or whatever) of people out there, especially the 128GB version. Apple has more SKUs on products than every before, so they need to kill stuff off eventually in order to not become bloated and unfocused. Also, I find it ridiculous that people need 100% of their library on them at all times, but thats just me.

I agree. I am in the minority when it comes to music. I actually don't have my full library on my iPod. I just have a ton of different playlists for different genres of music. I still do believe Apple should at least increase the space in the nano or iPod touch. 64 gigs is the most now available and that's really not a lot, even for the average user.
I love the iPad mini. For me it's a better size than its bigger brother. I personally don't see the need for the iPhone Plus, but I guess it's one of these devices you need to hold first before you know it 'works'.
Damn, it's not like they don't have enough cash on hand to leave it available after switching to 256, 512GB and 1TB SSDs.. I'd still use my classic if they didn't stop playing whenever I walk more than a minute. And if they didn't have the stupid volume limit which means using an amp with big headphones.
Sounds as though you need a new battery if it conks out after a minute.

Seeya iPod, it's been fun.
Boo. There is no replacement for a large capacity iPod. I was hoping they would release a 240GB or larger iPod.
There is a replacement - iTunes Match.

Depends on the genre of music. A ton of electronic stuff I have is not on iTunes here in the States and only in Europe.

The iPad mini is good for women and children.

iTunes Match accommodates music from other sources than iTunes.

The keynote when Jobs introduced the original ipod was so good.
A master at work.
