The rounded edges mean you can't stand the device on its own on a table without an accessory, e.g. while showing a video clip: you either have to hold it, or need a stand of some sorts. iPhone 4 through 5s were able to stand on their own, either vertically or horizontally.
When Microsoft inevitably copies the "phablet" phone next year , they will remedy this by adding a kickstand thanks to your comment.

And even though the Verge scored the 6 a 9/10 their review wasn't gushing and in some ways was kind of "meh".

The Verge has to play both sides of the Aisle.

That said Pogue and Mossberg are a bit fanboiish. Me, I am looking forward to Anandtech reviews.

Molly Wood's review was not a rave although she raved about iOS 8 which will work on my 5S.

Speaking of new releases, can any devs comment on the XCode release schedule?

I want to try Swift, don't have a current (paid) iOS dev account.  XCode 5 has been a freely available (and free) release for some time.  Now that XCode 6 has gone GM I was expecting to find that available as a free download, but it's not.  At least not yet.

Has there been a "typical" release schedule for the free versions of XCode recently?  I mean relative to iOS/iPhone release schedule.

Popped into the DailyTech comments. Lots of Android fruit bats in there. Amazing how the sale of a new phone they will not buy affects these nutters. Some of them are probably writing the comments in faeces in their parents basement before opining online. Just to get the spelling right.

I mean I don't care about Android phones so I don't go and criticise Android phones,  every time there is an new phone released from Samsung., HTC et al. Why would I care? Utterly insane.

Xcode releases generally sync up with iOS and OSX releases. I'd expect Xcode 6 to be released in the next few days.

I think I jumped the gun trying to get it yesterday.  I saw that XCode 6 was GM, but I didn't realize iOS8 hadn't actually been released yet (no, I'm most definitely not an early adopter on devices that can't revert to a previous version of the OS!)

I'll hang tight for a couple days then, thanks.

Didn't I see something about him working for Apple now?

EDIT: Yes I did. His mobile editor Brian Klug also moved over to Apple.

These benchmarks are useless as the system is leveraging far beyond the Dual Core 64bit ARM CPU.

Develop a Benchmark that taps into the DSPs [M7, etc], the 6 core GPGPU and the dual cores, at the same time and then I'll listen.

The wierd thing is that those people seem like benchmark runners instead of real tech writers . A constant 25% boost, plus 50% boost in GPU, without throttling is exceptional. That means the chip is immensely efficient and seems extremely underclocked. That will be felt in intense use much more than casual use were all CPU's work the same if the OS is coded decently.

I actually read that as 'Or one could go there for good' - my mind is playing tricks on me with all these Newly Appely Stuffies

    Good one!

Easy solutions.  Keep your smaller phone and buy the 6+.  I'm keeping my 5S.  Changing the SIM takes about 5 seconds.

When I need a small phone for the day I'll pop the SIM out of my 6+and plop it into my 5S.  So basically I have the ultimate phone now.  I can also use the 5S as a iPod when I go running or do outdoor work.  Much better than selling my 5S for $250.
I'm eligible for a new phone in January. But I might sit this one out and get the Watch. There are rumors of display yield issues so perhaps that's the biggest reason why the 6 has an inferior display? Maybe next year the 6s will catch up to its ugly sibling in terms of display and camera quality.

Be happy in your decision to get the ?Watch in lieu of the iPhone 6, as long as you don't mind howling your guts out.

Seems like 6 Plus only gets you image stabilizer (apart from the size).

Here's a quick tool for choosing 6 or 6 Plus:
