Gee, AI sure seems to want folks to know this thing is "fast." Too bad iOS 8 is a pretty big disappointment on any iPad, it apparently just disappoints quicker on the Air 2. Multi user support? True multitasking? Hello?

All this speed talk reminds me of the old days of PC versus Mac. Why should I buy a new iPad? Oh because it's "fast." Ok. I thought the software was what separated Apple products from the rest. Kind of hard to make that argument now when my son can do things on his 99 dollar Kindle Fire I can't on my 729 dollar iPad. Hardware? Oh yeah this thing is a beast. Thin, great screen, better camera yeah. Software? Waa waa. Maybe if we keep our fingers crossed for a year, iOS 9 will be on the iPad Air 3 what we should have had way back on the iPad Retina.

"Can AI please learn to use "Save for Web & Devices" in Photoshop? You can easily save 75% with no loss in image quality. Each of these photos are more than 2.5MB. That is just plain rude to people with data plans. No excuse! The pictures aren't even very good."

But what about those poor folk viewing this on a 5k display? :)

Uuuhhhoooohhh you've done it now, people are going to call you all kinds of naughty words, say you don't know what your talking about, call you a dumb, dumb head and than to finish you off will just denounce you as just another insane person who probably smells their finger after they wipe, eeeuuuwww, you do that. See, I'm already starting to believe my own nonsense. Your going to get it, your going to get it!

It's so nice having an unlimited data plan, I really feel sorry for you Americans and your crappy data plans.

Has Apple gotten out of the iPad and iPhone dock market?

I just looked and they only offer a dock for the iPhone 4 & 5 series, and they don't offer any docks for ANY iPad.

Boy Apple has a come a long way since the days of the original iPhone, which came packaged together with a dock.

    That's definitely true.

I noticed that right away also. I'm used to mostly using an iPad 3, which is basically built like a tank, and I noticed right away that sound definitely vibrates more when using the iPad Air 2. When playing a game or doing something on the iPad where you are holding it in your hands, you can definitely feel the vibrations.

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, I'm just saying that it was definitely a noticable difference for me, coming from my iPad 3.
Hmm..I'd be curious to know your opinion the more you use it. Is it something people need to get used to and then it won't both them or is it going to be an annoyance? I wonder if the speakers are different than with the 1st gen Air or if it's all due to the device being 18% thinner.

Jim Darymple said the Air 2 sounded louder and better.

But are they as good as a Kindle Fire HDX's?

I'll tell you in the morning, my iPad Air 2 arrived on Tuesday but I'm currently in the French part of Switzerland so my daughter had to re-ship to the hospital I am currently staying at, should get it the morning at which time I'll see if the speakers are as good as the HDX's. Tall order as I have yet to have heard anything better but the iPad does have two speakers this time around so we will see.

Edit: I just watched a short film over at Gizmodo called Into Dusk, I turned off my BlueTooth speaker and listened just using the HDX's speakers. You know their pretty good, real good, so again it's going to be an interesting test.

I guess that it's an individual thing. Some people might not mind, while a few might maybe. I suppose that there will always be certain compromises when making devices that are thinner and thinner, but there's also many advantages to that too. If the vibration bothers anybody, they can always go out and buy an iPad 3!<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

But the sound output is much louder on the iPad Air 2, and that's definitely a good thing, because I always felt that it was too low on my iPad 3, even when i had it on full.

I haven't done any scientific tests, but it seems as if the sound output is easily twice as loud now, compared to what it was before on my iPad 3.

This post for the Appleinsider folks. The new version of the iPhone app used a light font which is not very readable especially by color blind people.
When I go to the Comments section I see the story in the old readable font.
Please fix this problem so we can enjoy the first time we read the article.
    Thank you.

Some MacRumor users complain about EVERYTHING. Though Obviously, some loud sounds of specific frequencues that enter in resonance with the size of the tablet could possibly make it vibrate (though I haven't seen that myself).

I'm sure it wasn't the CPU as my Nokia 2520 with a slower Qualcomm 800 ran it perfectly, though it could also be that I was using a full fledged desktop browser. Whatever, I expect great things with the new iPad Air 2, all that power with a yummy keyboard, sweet.

Case looks great Relic, and very yummy indeed, hope you enjoy it.

I had my eye out to for the clamcase for the past few years, seems like they 've put the most thought in their product than anyone, despite some bad reviews from gen 1 products. As the iPad gets less heavy it makes the form factor less top heavy so they have a better chance to create a great keyboard case. I love the white plastic too, reminds me of a white macbook and macbook air hybrid.

In terms of speakers, I don't think the iPad has much chance with the kindle hdx, but I am sure that as soon as Beats gets fully on board, and starting with the 12.9 model we are going to see some really capable stuff. I 've always fancied a lightning speaker attachment that would be as thin as the air, same width, of course aluminium and matching it aesthetically with about 1cm height, although that might have problems with cases...Kickstarter, anyone? Having said that, a great airplay small speaker does the trick just fine.

Here's what I am after at the moment

Nice speaker, I have been looking at the new Bowers & Wilkins T7 myself, though I already have a few bluetooth speakers so I will probably hold off but it's still a very tempting setup none the less.

You just compared the fucking Kindle OS, which is well known to be horrible, to iOS8, and claimed it to be superior? My, you're a special kind of troll, especially since every review I've read has claimed the software and hardware to be mediocre.

And what, pray tell, are the tasks your son can do on his "$99 kindle" that you can't on your iPad? We're all dying to know about these wonderful applications. I have yet to see a Kindle Fire in the wild, thats how obviously awesome it is. The massive price cuts its gotten are also evidence of its massive success. 1/7 the price of an iPad (according to you) and yet can't touch it in sales. It's ecosystem comprises of a curated Android store with apps that often run like shit. Design is bulky and horrible. Hardware is sluggish. Interface and OS are an atrocity, basically massively skinned Android without any advantages of Android. This is what you're fantasizing the iPad to be?

Sorry, but you're completely full of shit. Objectively speaking.

    Question/wish

I would like someone put together bench table with data showing different results than usually. I would like things like:

    Performance/GHz or Watt

    Batery life/battery capacity

    Graphic performance/pixel

    and similar tests.

Just received my iPad Air 2 today. Major upgrades all around. Immediately my friends were surprised at the weight reduction when they handled it and the screen is much better and everything feels much faster!

An interesting demonstration of the 2 Gb performance for iPad Air 2.
