That's why this article is so delightful to read. <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

I remember all of the idiots and morons last year saying that Apple was in trouble, because of Samsung. Clearly, those people were clueless fools who don't understand a single thing about Apple.

Everything. Apple continually gets bashed for having the iPhone responsible for a large portion of their business while cutting Google (are far more fragile company) slack when they are worse in this regard.

I share the concern that Apple's fortunes are tied too much to iPhone. But Tim Cook told Charlie Rose that Apple was working on stuff nobody has rumored about. So that could definitely change in the future. Also things like ?Pay and ?Watch are there to augment iPhone but at the same time will be big revenue generators in their own right. And who knows what's coming with ?TV. And there have been rumors that Apple is working on first party hardware for HomeKit. And the Nike CEO talked about collaborations with Apple in the wearables space. I think the pipeline is strong but since Apple is so secretive about future plans people just assume if they don't know about something then it doesn't exist.

Google's dominance is search and I don't see anyone coming even close to disrupting that.

It's not a growth market though. And they haven't cracked mobile advertising.

Im concerned more on fact that Apple products are not so innovative anymore, just look at new iphones, it is just "bigger" and that is all what it is, in nutshell, it is looking like latest Samsung phone. So if you buy iphone today, you do not impress anyone with that, it is comodity now. Ofcourse business is still growing because snowball is rolling. plus AAPL is in favor of Wall Street this time, so the result is that we see valuation no one imagined year ago that is possible :) So far so good, but product quality and brand image of Apple is something that does not respond with my heart and feelings, so im not going to be AAPL shareholder now, even if i have lot of free money just sitting on bank account and waiting for some opportunity. When i owned AAPL my heart told me it is the right thing. I use Apple products ofcourse, but that feeling that i own something "special" is away.

IMO, the AppleWatch will be even more of a success than everyone thinks ...

When the first iPhone SDK arrived, I wrote a prototype app that could be used to place an order at InNOut Burger (I'm a customer since 1951).

I've been dinking around with the AppleWatch Beta SDK -- It's amazingly powerful, yet easy to program in Swift.

Here's my first cut at the app on an AppleWatch.

you approach your friendly, local Fast Food drive in/by

this is detected by the iPhone in your pocket via geofencing or iBeacon

the iPhone sends a notification to your AppleWatch

you tap the notification to display the menu

you tap-tap-tap your choices

you pick up your order and pay with ApplePay

you see how much exercise you'll need to to to work off the ...

Apple is doing a fantastic job in not becoming a commodity.  I don't know where you get that idea from.

A recent study showed that 1/3 of people interested in the iPhone 6 were Samsung users.  Not Android users, specifically Samsung.

Android has become the smartphone commodity.  It is a stepping stone to the iPhone, which is seen as the premium product in the industry.

Damn, man... really? Think about it.

Ask yourself what the connection is between one and the other. Who gives a shit about Google. Probably most members on AI think that Google is 1 year from implosion.

So... are you saying that if Google fails then there is a good chance that Apple will fail.

Who are these mysterious people who cut Google slack?

You must be kidding. This site is swarming with Android infiltrators and other types who clearly do not like Apple.

I will continue to ridicule, mock and speak not too highly of what I think of Apple's competitors, various copycats and other companies out there.

Samsung and others are probably busy making new attack ads right now against Apple and Apple users. Screw them all!

And you have every right to do that, but it's pathetic when you do it on a good Apple news thread. It's a sad existence when you're compelled to comment on the irrelevant competition.

Concern trolling. Is the 6 "just bigger" or can you pay for things now with just your finger?

I don't think you know what a commodity is.

So I can just wave my finger and pay for stuff?
It's really amazing how some people can't look past the form, and totally ignore the function.

    Bingo

AIR, the first iPhone sold ~10 million units in 12 months @ $400-$800 -- into an established market ...

By some estimates, the AppleWatch will sell ~ 39 million units @ $450+ -- into a mostly new market ...

And it will be the only watch with a convenient, private and secure payment capability.

Here's what I'd like to see from Apple in 2015:

Touch ID on all iOS devices sold

Retina screen on all iOS and Mac devices sold

A5 chip retired and all iOS devices sold with A7 or higher chip
How much of a possibility is that?

I love the San Francisco font. John Gruber says its a non printable font. I'm assuming that's intentional since the license on this font is only for use with ?Watch apps?

I think that's going to happen anyway. The Retina MBA probably would be here by now, but Intel loused that up with the Broadwell delays.

    good grief.

I am not sure if that is a good comparison. Daimler supplies a range of industries with a pretty wide range of products.
