Also -- ?Pay is for use with with internet purchases, which don't need NFC -- it's the only way you use ?Pay at Target right now. Nor do you technically need Touch ID. So there's even more confusion as to whether or not an iPhone 5, 5S & 5C will support ?Pay via the internet once the ?Watch enables it. I would imagine, setting up a credit card on a phone without such hardware support would be no different than setting it up on a phone that has it. And if that's the case, then why couldn't any device running iOS 8 and Yosemite support it, at least for internet purchases, as well as set up the ?Watch?

    HOLY FUCKING SHIT BALLS!!!

So now I'm really curious ... Is it an arbitrary cut-off forcing a near current iPhone purchase? I mean if it's an iOS only implementation for now, the iPad can certainly handle that with no issues, as well as the iPod Touch. So I feel like there must be something about the iPhone pairing which the watch requires that other devices can't otherwise accommodate as easily ... I'm not sure the ?Watch is as autonomous a device as you are inferring, at least with respect to ?Pay.

its paired w/ an iPhone, but I seem to recall that it's independent of the phone for the duration of a wear-session.

It’s this kind of lack of attention to detail that is really letting Apple down at the moment, particularly the past two years.

Health on the iPad would be good.

However, it's completely ignorant on your part to assume it's a lack of attention to detail that lead to it not being there yet. You have absolutely no data to back that up, just uninformed opinion.

In fact, one could argue it's not on iPad yet due to attention to detail, getting it sorted just right. We simply don't and can't know.

nope. like i said, it tracks your running activity, via heart rate and movement sensors.

you're likely referring to tracking your route via GPS, but that isn't the same as activity tracking.

nope. you're the only troll here, and we all know that (including yourself).

GPS is not required to track running activity. I'm amazed you really don't understand why.

That's interesting ... so if you take your watch off at any time while you're out, you're screwed. So in that sense it is tied to your iPhone.

You mean, assuming Apple would add lots of graphs to an iPad version.

And I highly doubt they will/would do this because Apple is leaving it up to 3rd party developers (which play a very, very big part of the Apple ecosystem).

Health app is simply a way to collect, store & share data for/between other apps.

In my dictionary, "track" is a four-letter word.

    hahahaha! I love it.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by it, but I think many people here will understand why I love it.

    The Withings devices look great.

But according to their T&C (http://www.withings.com/us/terms-and-conditions) I am not sure to what extent I can configure their devices and iOS applications such that :

    1. I do not have to register myself on their services to use the device.

    2. I do not have to register myself on the app to use the device -- Pairing the device with my smartphone should be enough.

    3. I can collect data from their device just with the native Apple's Health app.

What I would really like to do is to be able to buy and use their devices without having to register on their site. In other words, I should be able to use a device I bought without them knowing who am I.

The key source of (un)trust is the mandatory registration: This is absolutely not technically necessary. If I have to get an account and provide a login and password to their app just to be able to use their device, then this means that they are after my data.

So I have the iPhone 4s with the IOS 8.02 download which comes with the health app. I've installed and reinstalled the Nike Running app, allowed it to download my run data to the health app but my run data still does not sync to the Health app. Am I missing something or does it not work with the iPhone 4s? If that is the case, then this Health app is useless and just takes up space. Can anyone offer some help? Thanks
