Nobody out-Apples Apple.
(Yes, I turned Apple into a verb. About time, too.)

Apple can't get their watch to last more than a day, and the Swatch Group watch does not require charging. That would be a win for consumers. Also, the watch shown above is far better looking than the ugly Apple Watch. The Apple Watch is high on the ugly scale next to the Flower Power and Dalmatian iMacs. Apple doesn't seem to have the chops lately either with software. They still can't fix the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi issues with Yosemite and iOS 8. So if you think the Apple Watch and an iPhone will be bug free, you are dreaming. Apple will need to do a lot of convincing to make people think they need a watch that duplicates the iPhone functions and then drop $350+ for it. Also, those customers are required to use an iPhone.

There is a big reason why Apple lumped the Apple Watch into the "other" category on their business earning sheets, along with iPod and AppleTV. They don't see it is a big product. There are many Mac users that prefer to use an Android phone, and there are many Windows users that prefer to use an iPad. Many people do mix their product choices. You may not believe it, but it is true. Those Mac users that do not have an iPhone will never buy the Apple Watch because the Apple Watch will forever require an iPhone. The Apple Watch won't work without it, except maybe tell time.

I love Apple products, but I think the Apple Watch is a waste of money since it duplicates what I already have, an iPhone. I don't see many people wanting to carry another gadget that duplicates what they already have, especially when it is $350 and up. The battery can't last a day when new. What will it be like after a year when the battery has begun to degrade? After two years, my iPhone 4S was dead after a few hours of use. Is an Apple Watch going to be completely dead after two years? People do not upgrade watches like they do other products. I would much rather look at my iPhone 6 Plus screen instead of a tiny 1-2" inch screen.

These are some valid points about the Apple Watch, even if you are reluctant to believe them.

Swatch is still a thing? Will they get Debbie Gibson as their spokesmodel?

Ah, more reviews of unreleased products by people who haven't used or even touched one. And he's so SURE! I am going to buy the cheapest one I can, and then I'll let you know whether I have an AppleWatch sized hole in my life that this product fills.

I had a beautiful stainless steel chronometer on my wrist when the iPhone came out. I also bought a new gorgeous MBP about the same time. I then purchased some protective films for the MBP so my watch band did not scratch the the aluminum finish of the notebook. At a certain point I gave up on the wristwatch for one reason or another. I just use my iPhone to tell time. Occasionally I wear some of my fashionable watches when out on the town but in general I don't like wearing watches anymore. They just get hung up on things, wear out the cuffs of shirts and bump into other things causing scratches on both. No thanks. I'm happy without the cumbersome weight as well. I wish Apple well but I'm still a bit skeptical about ?Watch. My remarks have nothing to do with the expected functionality of the ?Watch, but is just my opinion of wrist worn gadgets in general.

I could have written this myself. Exactly my experience and practice in almost every case. The only difference is that when I was wearing a watch for daily purpose, it was a lightweight plastic Swatch. But I am hoping that the lightness of the cheapest version, it's ability to keep me from extracting my iPhone 6 from my jeans pocket (not easy with its sticky Apple silicone case) every time it vibrates, and fitness band function, will outweigh any of the aforementioned watch hassles.

Also, he has so much spite for a product he isn't being forced to buy. You'd think the Apple Watch killed his dog or something.

I heard on CNBC this morning that it was Amazon that was interested in Radio Shack retail space?

Oh Amazon is interested, but the folks at 9to5Google are saying that Google needs to buy them.

Different pundits have thrown out almost a half-dozen names. I don't think any company has publicly announced interest.

I think that this would be a better fit for the Apple watch

All I can say is that if Apple Watch killed his dog, it is very lucky the guy isn't called John Wick. There'd be a dinner reservation waiting for it then...

A device equivalent in processing/display capability to the ?Watch would have a current draw at least two orders of magnitude too great to be recharged by even a full-faced solar panel.

How can this be serious? You have computer companies that have put in more than 20 years of work creating "secure" OSes. And they think they can just say hi here's ours? Weird... but yeah to be in conjunction with some Tech company maybe.

Swatch may produce a scaled down version of a smartwatch. Something that looks like a watch, is capable of minor notification (maybe all it will do is vibrate and show what type of incoming message), and include some sensors. The payment system could also be scars down: either pre-paid or for small amounts (under $20). Not at all like an Apple Watch, but probably very useful!
