If you are going to charge it every night then you need two chargers (one for each watch). Beside, you get a charger with the watch.

Much better battery life than expected. 72 hours in power reserve mode. And 48 hours for just timekeeping. 7 hours for workout/heartrate sensor. All better than the rumors suggested. 1.5 hours to charge to 80% is great, and if you can get through the day with power left it might not even take that long so you could charge it before you go to bed and wear it to bed if you want to do sleep tracking. Even if Apple isn't offering sleep tracking you know a 3rd party will.

A charger comes in the box. But there could be technical differences that require two chargers. I doubt Apple would go through the work of creating a second charger for a measly $10 extra dollars.

Oh I don't think they're doing it for the $10. However if the same charger can charge, my iPad, iPhone and iPod I find it hard to believe they couldn't standardize this.

Till you're traveling and forget one of them and then you're stuck. If I forget my iPhone charger I can use my iPad charger etc

Different chargers for each size of watch? That's a poor design! First negative thing I've said about the watch.

I agree, completely! The charger should be universal, and if the watch itself has different charging requirements, then the charger should be smart enough to detect those needs. Apple, this is a disappointment!

What I hate though, is Apples current trend of describing things that don't last 24 hours as "all day".

The watch battery will last 24 hours for some people. And 18 hours a day is a full day for most people... 6 hours of sleep. Since when is 2am in the morning daytime? The phrase "all day" is perfectly valid.

can you make secure, tokenized purchases with it? can you check into your airport with it?

you won't get enough watts to make it worth while. trust me -- if you've thought of these things, they have too. its insanity to believe they intentionally gimped v1 in favor of v2. they may not be a v2 if v1 doesnt do well.

Just as follow up it's not clear of the article is accurate. Per the Apple site it seems the difference if length. 1M vs 2M

try taking a look at the product pages -- the only published difference is the LENGTH of the CORD.

Both of which can easily be done with the iPhone you have to have on you anyway.

Well, the original was supposedly 7 days but lasts about 4, so I'm guessing 7 days is about right for the new one.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll get an Apple Watch at some point, and I can see the appeal to some, but what I've seen so far is not very appealing. I may get completely wowed when I see it in person, and obviously they'll be able to get it very tightly integrated, much better than Pebble ever could. But at this point, to me the Pebble is a lot like the original Palm Pilot compared to the Newton: pedestrian, cheap, limited but it does what it does extremely well. Having a display that is not always on and less than 24 hours battery life is just not good enough for me.

Yes I posted that after you made this one. The article in this thread got it wrong and is what my comment was based off of

so your answer is....no, no it can't.

and newsflash -- you won't need your iPhone on you to make apple pay purchases. your cards are in the secure enclave of the watch and transmitted over the watch's NFC antenna...not the phone's. which is useful when you're out for a jog w/o your phone (i never run w/ my phone) and want to buy a water afterward.

and much easier to wave my wrist over an airport sensor then fish for my phone in one hand.

No, but I can already do that with my phone. Can you wear the Apple Watch for a week without recharging? Can you look at it and tell the time without having to shake it or press a button? Someone was talking about 1970 CRT technology, this is going back to 1970 LED watches!

Since they are using the MagSafe connector mean you will not see a 3rd party solution to the charger. I believe someone was already showing off a kickstarter project to have a phone and watch charging station. That one is already DOA, since you know Apple will most likely go after anyone doing a magsafe charger like they did for the laptops.
