I suspect a drive with a built in USB-C port expansion will be more popular (as opposed to connect-ability to other standards as with this one). The problem with the Apple shipped USB-C port expansion dongle I can see is it will get pulled out too easily. The expansion ports on an external device with a little heft would be less prone to being dislodged just like a Thunderbolt connector. I love my new Mac Pro but those small Thunderbolt plugs are very easily dislodged when adding or removing connectors and with several RAID 0 drives attached this can be extremely problematic. I really wish there was some latching mechanism involved. I have to shut down the nMP before touching the ports which kind of defeats the purpose of hot plug and play.
Positions the screens for convenient viewing rather than flat on a surface for the phone and some odder angle for the watch?
The chargers are the ones that came with the devices. Clever cost savings IMHO.
This is more likely about Apple not yet (and maybe never will) release the watch charger for third party manufacturing than it is about cost savings. We saw the same thing when the lightning connector was first released and nobody could get MFi certification on lightning docks.

On Griffin's part it means they have a $30 price point instead of a $190 price point (the bare stand plus two charger sets) by not mandating the consumer buy two extra chargers they might not need.

Lemme see if I have this right. The Griffin Watchstand's selling point is its... ? ?
If I have to buy a charger to charge with it, why do I need the stand? I don't even want to know what they'll be asking for it.
