Reviewers say Samsung's Galaxy S6 tops Android heap, but S6 Edge is solution in search of problem

Not just the distortion, but the constant glare of light reflecting off the curves at all angles.  S6 Edge owners will find themselves constantly micro-adjusting the angle at which they hold it in order to find an angle that doesn't cause glare at the side edges.  If Apple were inclined to acknowledge the competition, this would be great fodder for an iPhone versus Edge commercial, ala the old Mac versus PC commercials.
Apple changed their advertising focus a long time ago. They focus on how the product is used and design features. They don't waste time talking about other manufacturers products. They also target specific programming to buy ad time. Their also really good at product placement. It seems that a lot of fictional characters on tv and movies use Apple products. Did you see the "Modern Family" episode shot completely with iOS devices?

The lack of a micro SD slot is not surprising. Google dropped support for external storage with KitKat for app installation, Play movie, music, and book storage. To the average non-techie an SD slot is worthless.
Really? I think you'll find that is not quite correct.

Using the Google Play Store when you purchase apps, music, videos, and books they only install to the internal storage. Third party apps try to overcome this but it's not easy. Google is supposed to allow Music but I have tried it. Some OEM's do a work around with their own stores. More and more android devices are skipping the external SD card slot. It takes too much room that could be used for battery or more enhanced circuits. Like maybe finger print sensors that really work. Cloud services help take up the slack for extra storage. Rooting the device is a work around but is beyond the capability of the common user and say hello to poor security.

I'd really love for Apple to send Samsung into a tizzy by leaking a whole series of fake, but plausible, products that would have the net effect of tying up Samsung's R&D and advertising and marketing departments and budgets. Stuff like headbands, earrings, shoes, gloves, jackets and household appliances.

I shall check on an old device as my current android device is on lollipop. I'm sure when it was on kit kat you could just go into settings and choose external or internal storage and bam that's where play would put the media.

Has Samsung's swansong been sung yet?

Instead I'm seeing a lot of pre-reviews or "mini" reviews. Makes me wonder if Samsung is pushing for major outlets to hold off on their reviews until closer to the release of ?Watch to try and take some of the spotlight off ?Watch. But they're letting these min-reviews go up so it keeps the device in conversation.

Yes, this is a standard tactic for making several media splashes with the same product.  Teaser first, then announce a product, then let reviewers briefly get their hands on it to try it out, then let reviewers get prerelease samples to test, then release it to the public.
