    LOL! Everywhere's a practical joker . . .

You know what I LOL at is this post from Ars Technica forums:
Android watches have existed for almost a year. Some of them were bad, but some were really good.

Where was all this developer and press enthuziasm?

That thread descended into calling Apple a "small cult." A barely concealed mix of envy and dismissal. LOL indeed.

I think they know which side their bread is buttered. Google and their hardware partners need Apple to kick start smartwatch market. Android Wear will rise on the back of the Apple Watch, just as Google Wallet saw an uptick in use from Apple Pay.

It's their fans who don't seem to appreciate the effect Apple has.

He was probably happy for the advice, but didn't like your opinion written as unbiased fact. After #digitalclips questioned if Google intentionally hobbled our experience, you said "Nope, unintentional of course."

Saying "of course" implies he was making an obvious mistake, or that he shouldn't have questioned in the first place. It's common knowledge that Google has intentionally crippled competitors in the past, telling carriers that certain third party mapping apps were incompatible with Android cause losing the mapping data would be "terrible", found out with investigations. They told Apple they didn't have the ability to add vector maps or turn by turn directions because of one excuse after the other, then Apple Maps came out and Google Maps added vector and turn by turn right away. So when you say "of course" in an attempt to keep people from questioning Google, despite this common knowledge, it shows that you do have a little bias after all. :) Its ok, the appleinsider commenters will help you through this. Or call you out. :D

So, it's very possible Google is doing this intentionally. I mean look at the wizardry with which Google bypassed Safari's privacy settings when it fit with their agenda.
I'll help you thru the reasoning and not even have to call you out... ;)

Why would Google do so intentionally NOW. Their maps app doesn't come pre-installed so the primary reason for iOS users to download and use it is if it works better for them than Apple Maps. If Google intentionally makes it difficult to use for Apple owners it won't be.

Google benefits when Apple owners use Google Maps and they ain't gonna break it on purpose. There's absolutely zero benefit to making Google Maps look less capable or more difficult to use than Apple Maps. It surely wouldn't attract them to Android and besides, Google cares much less about what platform is used than much more whether it's a Google App being used on that platform.

Make sense now why I can confidently say of course it wouldn't be intentional?

That's why we have a discussion forum, to sort all this stuff out while having the opportunity to consider a different point of view from our own.

EDIT: Just realized it was a play on words with the Calvin rip-off image and not any forum member you were talking about. LOL!

I appreciate your response, but we were talking about Google Maps on the desktop not the iOS ap - hence the discussion about the Magic Mouse. Google has more of a monopoly on the desktop because of their 84% usage rate in browsers. It's true that having a good browser mapping solution with Apple helps Google, but when Google holds any monopoly they practice the shenanigans mentioned above, like delaying Mac fixes to give chrome books an edge, or some such chicanery. They've done it with bigger cash cows, like the iPhone when there were other mapping solutions present. Either way, responding to #digitialclips with "of course" he's wrong is off base. I would say, "of course" he should continue to question Google. You may have been able to say, "I see it differently than you", but definitely not "of course" Google is doing what's right. That shows the Google bias, and you should accept that. But, once again, it's okay. Also, look at the news source, it's called Apple Insider. We're Apple fans having fun here. So what if someone is frustrated with Google and it's not justified. Post that critical thinking stuff on the Verge or Engadget, or better yet a Fandroid forum.

Yeah, you deserved a smiley face for that definition. Clever. You are the first person on this site to comment on my username. Granted, I don't post a lot, but I thought surely someone would notice it at some point.

Why would they do that when they have 40000 Macs of their own?

Well at least you have the guts to basically admit that being irrational with outlandish accusations against Google is acceptable rhetoric here.

I disagree this forum is filled with Apple fans having fun. I read a lot of comments born of antipathy and anxiety, to the point where the community can be suffocating. Here you have a technology company creating the best products its ever made, along with tremendously positive financial results and a bright future, and the fans in this community is in the mud slugging it out with anything that moves, afraid of its own shadow. I want nothing more than the people who read this site to cheer the heck up. DED has done his damage I guess.

    Oh brother!
So you have some unrelated axe to grind.
You sound just as ridiculous as daveinpublic when talks about stowing critical thinking.

A funny fact that most if not all of Google web services and software is developed on Macs. It was reported years ago that Windows machines were bannished to admin and accounting, and only if there was no other way out... :smokey:
