Well at least you have the guts to basically admit that being irrational with outlandish accusations against Google is acceptable rhetoric here.

I disagree this forum is filled with Apple fans having fun. I read a lot of comments born of antipathy and anxiety, to the point where the community can be suffocating. Here you have a technology company creating the best products its ever made, along with tremendously positive financial results and a bright future, and the fans in this community is in the mud slugging it out with anything that moves, afraid of its own shadow. I want nothing more than the people who read this site to cheer the heck up. DED has done his damage I guess.

So, you expect me to go to an Android news website, and expect a forum filled with critical thinking and balanced comments about Apple. You're hilarious!!!! My point is, you're gonna see a lot of people grumbling about Google and Android. Time to get over it! I'm not even gonna bother going to an Android site, and I definitely won't dive into their forums and start bickering with hardcore commenters. Those people are on a Fandroid news site because they want an escape, a time to enjoy a company they like. It's not the place. If I want to have a thoughtful debate, I'll go to the Verge or something - there's plenty of Apple bashing right there, and plenty of people on the fence who you could actually change their minds. I thought that would be common sense. When you come here, think Apple fans are here!

I'm no fan of Android, but one look at the forums here clearly demonstrates that Apple fanboys are just as bad.    I really don't remember such battles over Scott vs. Fisher receivers or Wollensak vs. Revere reel-to-reel tape recorders or GE vs. Frigidaire kitchen appliances.   Have we all lost our minds?

If we have to get so emotional and sometimes even violent (recent bar fight) about our favorite brand of electronic device, it's no wonder that we still kill each other over nationality, religion, race, sexual identity, politics, etc.

Try it.

This link is a "which should I buy Nexus 6 or iPhone 6+" thread on "fandroid" site Android Central. Certainly the kind of topic that would typically receive venomous replies if anything would right?. Then report back how rational and reasoned that thread is or isn't overall in your opinion. I know you have one. Note too if you see any Apple fans posting there.

Try this: add ".vegas" at the end of any .com web address (right after the .com). Works on any browser it seems.

Okay, I'll see if Android news commenters are better from this link. Mind if I check another article as well?

I looked at another article too, and saw plenty of stuff crazier than anything I see here. 2 people openly referred to all Apple customers as their "enemies". They said Apple has zero ethics and is a "typical ultra-greed corporation, bend laws to their advantage, pay representatives to hinder their competition, hide money to not pay taxes yet gladly use all the services they don't pay taxes for, and ship all jobs over seas. That is a few reasons why they really suck." And that was just the first few comments. What's funny is that I saw someone posting this about Android wear getting iPhone compatibility:

It'll work for sure. Oh wait.... is that a new iOS update? I wonder if it will make some things not work? Nahh. Apple would never do that

Which reminded me of the commenter here that said Google intentionally allows poor user experience, and you said nope, Google would never do that. But on the Android site, no one corrected him, and no one stood up for Apple... It's a cruel, cruel world!

So no comment at all about the link I provided but instead you practice dodge and weave skills, mentioning vague, unattributed and unlinked comments you supposedly saw there in some other thread you chose not to mention. I hope that's not how you typically handle tougher questions, by evasion and misdirection. If so you wouldn't seem suited to calling anyone else out.

EDIT: So I tracked down the comments you referred to. Not from a forum discussion at all as it turns out but instead isolated comments on an article, ala Engadget-style

Wow this are sane people. I am impressed. But it is not the case in most of the other forum. I read a lot of hate, so much hate I don't even check them out any more. I've never comment on any android site, I am scare to, because I've read some bad comments on them.

Well, it's kind of funny for me to base my entire experience in this matter off of one hand picked link. Sure you can find examples of a thread that didn't go south quiet as fast, but the article I found wasn't from a random site. It was the MOST RECENT article that mentioned Apple on Android Central, the site you provided. And it was in the comments of an article, like this one. First of all, that's more of an actual comparison, not a random commenter posting a question you found. The link:

http://m.androidcentral.com/android-wear-on-iphone-editorial#comments

So, if you think I should base my entire experience off of one link you provide, then you have to base your entire experience off of my last comment. It's time you came to grips with your bias.

So you didn't believe you could go to an Android forum and have an Apple/Android discussion "filled with critical thinking and balanced comments about Apple". You ridiculed the possibility as a matter of fact. I proved you can.

There's several "critical thinking" threads there where Apple products are discussed and almost (not completely) without exception they're balanced. Visit the forums and type in Apple in the search bar. Biased and respectful do not need to be mutually exclusive. That's a choice you make.

Of course there are those outlier comments here and there but overall AC shows there's nothing wrong with being a fan of one product and still having an interest in learning about another. I think most members here are capable of that, altho it's evident some just can't tolerate that discussion. For those few , and perhaps you may be one of them, maybe AI isn't the perfect match with it's almost daily articles on other manufacturers, non-Apple products, non-Apple OS'es, and non-Apple issues. They certainly encourage the discussion of "others" don't they?. That makes it seem to me AI would prefer to be more like Android Central, emphasizing the best of Apple while inviting contemplation of competing platforms in a thoughtful rather than insulting manner.

What would be wrong with that?

It is the same with any scroll mouse be it Logitech or Apple. Google Maps interprets the scroll wheel as zoom, by design. To pan, horizontally or vertically, you are supposed to click and drag. Good or bad, it is just a programming decision not a bug. For consistency, they made horizontal and vertical the same type of action since most mice do not have a horizontal scroll. Think of it as the same way you would interact with a map on a touch device.

Just don't be surprised when people post disgruntled posts about Android on an Apple site. That's all. I see plenty of posts on Android sites, including the one you linked to, where random disgruntled people put down Apple and noone swoops in to Apples rescue like you do for every negative Google comment. It actually surprises me that you don't realize you're a Google fan. There's nothing wrong with liking Google more than Apple. We all see it, so you don't have to try to convince us you're not.

Update via TechCrunch:
Due to an increase of stupidity and childishness Google has taken the extreme step of shutting down Map Maker for now. No big surprise probably that just a few folks are able to ruin a otherwise valuable service, particularly in 3rd world countries where accurate and needed maps had been unavailable.
