Nice! What is that? Reminds me of an Audi TT roadster, but retro looking.
Interesting comment. It's a 2002 TT roadster I believe. But yes by today's standards retro, and that is the thing Apple is already facing with the ?Watch. Apple has been doing round rectangles since Lisa. It's iconic to Apple, but it's growing long in the tooth. The ?Watch inherited that, and as a fashion product will have to deal with it. It will be interesting to see if Apple does produce a car whether they will have evolved some new design cues by then ... Of course it's all good if round rectangles are in vogue when they get around to it.
Perhaps it's the extreme side view of the photo, but looks more stripped down than I remember. As if many of the styling details have been removed. Timeless!
It really does look like it was modeled after a bar of soap. Everything classically beautiful is very simple.
[The roadster always looked way better than the coupe.]

It doesn't look outdated. It looks retro. As in it's referencing of classic forms from the past. Classic design never goes out of style.
As an example, the design of the Kitchenaide mixer was done in 1937 (if I remember correctly.) There has never been any reason to change the basic design of it. It still looks fresh and is still widely imitated. If Apple is smart, they will not bother to redesign the Apple watch as much as they do the phone. It would just be gilding the lilly. The software will be upgraded, internal HW will be improved, But only new sensors and improved technology should impart much change to the basic form of the watch.
