Do even know the definition of a whistleblower? And, what is wrong with what Snowden did. He revealed a major conspiracy within the intelligence agencies that have run amok and violated our constitutional rights

Virtually everyone in a government leadership role, even those you'd expect to align with Snowden's privacy beliefs, have concluded after reviewing the relevant highly-classified documents that the U.S. got a great deal more benefit from these programs than the citizens gave up.

Like who?? Please provide links to reputed sources, not NSA-CIA press releases.

And how do you know this? Even the professional liars at the NSA and the CIA were unable to point to a single incident of harm the resulted from Snowden's revelations. More importantly, they could not show a single case that benefited from the mass spying they did on Americans in violation of the 4th Amendment. How does exposing a useless, ineffective program hurt our national security?

because he's a national hero, not a traitor.

the traitors are the government officials who designed and implemented an illegal program to spy on lawful citizens. are you one of them?

So basically, you mean the smart people who run the world, and those people who advances society forward, as they always have, since the beginning of time, with inventions, discoveries, medicine, technology and most other significant things that you can think of. Thank god for white guys.:smokey:

Humanity would be an uncivilized mess without "white guys".

I think that you are conflating two different issues. It's quite possible to disapprove of Snowden's actions without approving of, or defending, the unlawful data collection..

True. One can dislike both what the US govt did and what Snowden did.

Snowden is a whistleblower which is very different from being a traitor. The documentary Citizenfour is a great movie that sheds some light onto Snowden as a character and what drove him to do as he did. It is a chilling film and highly recommended.

Snowden revealed nothing illegal, exposed no corruption. None of the NSA work was unconstitutional, and that is why it is, after having been made public, still ongoing. All he did was cost Americans hundreds of millions of dollars while setting back out intelligence agencies. "Citizenfour" is a propaganda movie; how one fails to recognize this is surprising. He is a thief who lied to his co-workers and violated their trust, then took off to to China. He also took it upon himself to decide, not asking you or anyone else, what to leak, much to your applause. Strange that you techie boys should love him stealing information because therein lies the irony: most of his lickspittle acolytes are constantly having temper tantrums about Google or Apple or whoever tracking them or using information that they don't want gleaned or commoditized. You people can't seem to make up your minds and are very selective in your outrage.

Worst part? You self-patting navel gazers aren't as smart as you think: anyone who has paid attention has known about massive data collection going back to the 1980s.

There was no conspiracy: he did not reveal anything that was illegal or some form of corruption hidden from anybody. He stole information; he lied to his co-workers, his friends, and he hightailed to China before settling in Russia, a country that he said had more freedoms than the U.S.

The do-nothing people of the world love to trot out living in Nazi state. Absolutely pathetic, but expected from the soft, upper-middle class who have done NOTHING for their country but demand it give everything to them. You're the kind of guy who lauds American soldiers getting killed because you think they are dupes for serving, while singing the praises of someone who has advertised his services to other countries **against your very own.** NONE of you people can say how leak after leak after leak after leak has anything to do with your Fourth Amendment rights, and you know it, so you gloss over it by moving the goal posts in deference to your phony messiah.

People have a very difficult time placing a man in history once he has a media built reputation, but as Mark Twain said, “If you give a man a reputation as an early riser he can sleep til noon.”

The data collection *was not unlawful.* You people need to get that straight. Disliking it and wanting it stopped is one thing; throiwng out the lie that it was illegal is quite another.

Well, congratulations, now you sound like your right-wing enemies: everything is a false flag operation, everyone is always lying. Please tell us how the government was behind Sandy Hook and the Boston Marathon bombing.

BTW, Congress is not revoking **anything.** They're discontinuing the mass phone data collection. Has nothing to do with anything else.

And when you have zero standards, you can go ahead and admire them because hey, they're somebody's hero! So, it's really not for us to judge them by the cutting-off-people's-heads-with-a-small-knife videos. They just have "different goals."

It's  a little more than that. Here are some more differences between the Freedom Act and the Patriot Act: FA will constrain how the government could obtain records -- instead of massive amounts, the NSA can ask only for data on a specific persons. And it would have to show that the individual is associated with a foreign power or terrorist group.

Civil liberties NGOs would be allowed to lobby the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, and they can force the government to declassify major new opinions from the judges.

It would require the intelligence community to be more transparent about how much data it’s collecting, and allow tech companies to be more open about how often they turn over information to the government.

ISIS is awesome! Now let's not go judging those brave people and "freedom fighters" to some people. They just have different goals! Who are we to judge them?

I especially love those videos where they throw gay people off of roofs! They have such awesome goals and priorities! <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

And the videos where they chop people's heads off? Those videos are just your usual familiy entertainment for certain people, in certain parts of the world.

There is no right or wrong. There is no good or bad. Everything is equal. Who are we to judge anybody? :smokey:

And just in case anybody were to misinterpret my statement, I believe that every single ISIS member on planet earth should immediately be disposed of, and that billions of dollars of bombs should be dropped on all areas where ISIS is located. Those people are pure scum and they must all die.
