It could change the timing on my fans or the clock speed of the chip, couldn’t it?
OS? Unless you have Skynet Portable installed there, I think not. Even then. AI is not self-destructive, most of the time. Except for Marvin.
OS never talks to hardware on that level. Combination of GPU's firmware, AMD drivers and some sort of enthusiast-level specialised overcooking software... maybe... though there's usually threshold between GPU becoming unstable and GPU experiencing horrible permanent death when you push to far. But it is never done on OS level.
I don’t get it, then. Zapping my PRAM will occasionally bring the fans back to normal and restore display functionality, but it’s not guaranteed (and it needs to be done pretty often). All I know is that Windows started it.
I know that nVidia has a different driver than this that allows you to even use the 9xx series cards, and so I was looking into a GTX 980 (originally 970, but they lied to us about the vRAM). I just can’t afford it, is all. I’ll limp along for now and just not use Windows again until someone slipstreams a new version of Windows 10 that strips out all the datamining and advertising that Microsoft has injected into the final version.
Yeah, using my iPhone6 when posting that. It sucks; the larger phone display doesn't enhance anything as the site isn't optimised for it. Still get only 5 lines of text. I'm sure the Passport is better at this. How many lines of text does it display on your BB PP phone Relic?
I'm not really sure, I know I could fit two of Apple Insiders text box's on the screen. Since the keyboard is mechanical and on the bottom I get about the same screen real-estate as an iPhone 5s
I'm talking about the fact that they have both Control Panel and Settings, and overlapping functionality between them, instead of just one place to go for OS settings (like Apple).
You really don't have to do use the other one though, most of what you need is in the modern interface and you have to go looking for it if you want to see it.

There's a lot to be said for a large display, that's certainly true.
