If what you mean by mainstream is sold 100 million that is not my point. The original iPhone broke the mold for all phones on the market at that time. Apple Watch was not designed to disrupt the traditional watch industry but is more of an attempt for Apple to bring the much discussed (at least by tech nerds) wearable computer to the market. I think the average person may have a hard time getting excited about AW because it does not obviously enhance their lives and is a early adopter product again for tech nerds. AW does not replace the desire and efficiency of the classic watch which has served humans for 100? years. The iPhone made all cell phones obsolete and brought new features and improved upon standard uses. AW for me, fails first with its appearance. I just think it is too thick and clunky. On the tech side, I am not a runner and if I wanted a heart rate device I would get one that does just that for a smaller investment. The screen is too big and too small. I know Siri plays a big role with AW but Siri is.... well Siri. I don't see myself having to know about every text, email, calendar alert as most people that run Fortune 500 companies and my iPhone handles all that already.

The fitness aspects of both devices, Fitbit and apple watch is the only similarities these devices have. An apple watch has vastly more functions than a base model Fitbit. Fitbits are really just fancy heart rate monitors. Hence the bike to landcruiser analogy. The basic car vs SUV comparison you suggest is too close. Maybes higher end Fitbits that tell the time, but even then. Would you be more comfortable with a motorbike to SUV comparison?

Did anyone notice Apple Watch being discounted on the Evine shopping channel this weekend?

And you think evine is an authorized Apple reseller?

I think if you try real hard you can get an iPad for $2 in Deal Dash...give it a shot...

I found it odd -- if not newsworthy -- they were selling, packaging, financing and discounting it. And I, for one, am curious about the circumstances and Apple's involvement, if any.

Why would Apple participate in evine? There aren't thousands of more appropriate outlets for the Watch if there desire was to expand distribution? Do you truly think they would try and hershey squirt a few hundred Watch sales out of such a junkpile site given the size of Apple, their insane focus on quality and experience, their market focus, etc?

    Are you promoting the site?

You're missing the point my friend. It's not a matter of why they would be sold on Evine. They were sold on Evine, period! My question is why? And don't feel that you have to blindly defend Apple, or every observation is a criticism. As great as Apple is they're far from perfect. I hate to break that to you. Now move on, unless you have something to contribute.

My point makes perfect sense. Lots of items are sold by unauthorized sources - that would be the far more obvious takeaway than Apple "briefly" selling them there.

Do you thing the Deal Dash iPads are authorized by Apple?
