Google doesn't make any smartwatches and doesn't set prices for them.

But free android is how Google establishes a lower price.

Come and get it, the SW is free !!!

Google is supporting iOS for their own selfish  (profit)  reasons.

Note that profit isn't from Google's sale of android to the watch makers.

Well of course they are. Don't most companies do what they do for their own profit?

Sure, and I expect the race to the bottom in watches to happen at a quicker pace for Android Wearables even than has occurred for Android OS handsets. It's a wonderful business model for Google; not so much for the builders.

Now of course, Samsung has gone off the ranch with Tizen; hope that works for them.

Isn't the real headline here "Google to Help Sell More iPhones"?!

The real heading is: why would Google care about making Android Wear work with a tiny, dying platform like iOS? Aren't the trolls always bragging that Android like some huge lead in worldwide marketshare? Like billions and billions of activations per day?

So far I'm leaning towards getting an Apple Watch.
    - The look of Android Wear is all over the map. Watch faces have white text on black. But notifications with Android W are black text on bright white! It's a terrible mismatch.
    - The price of the new iOS compatible Android W watches will be higher, around $300 (because more features means a need for more power).
This puts these new Android watches very close in price to the Apple Watch Sport.
    - The Apple Watch has more features than Android Wear on iOS. The Apple W is better tied into iOS.
    - Round Apple Watch? I might wait a few months to find out if Apple will come out with another style.
But overall I'm not seeing how these new Android watches are a better deal on iOS.
