Hardly stupid. People will be forced to buy the mid-tier model, the average selling price of an iPhone will shoot up by 15%, the stock will skyrocket because of analyst reports of growth in a mature market, and Tim Cook will get his big bonus. See how it works?
So since Apple is stupidly sticking with 16GB do they make changes to iCloud offerings/pricing to make up for it?
I know, sucks that Apple is discontiuing the 64GB and 128GB models.
Oh, wait.
Sorry, but if you believe that 16GB is such a horrible experience, yet are not willing to shell out an extra $100 for 4X the storage, then I have no sympathy for you.
16GB. Meet the new iPhone 6s. It all all the storage YOU NEED, to hold up to FOUR movies, TWO HD videos, FIVE high definition photos, and THREE apps.
Your friends with their entry level Samsung Galaxy S6's that have 32 GB standard memory will die with envy! Because YOU, like a capuchin monk have transcended the need to collect, own and store things. YOU have discovered the secret to happiness, by divesting yourself of all those apps, games, videos, pictures and other worldly stuff.
Am I being sarcastic? Yeah. But Apple deserves some ridicule if they're offering a 16 GB phone in late 2015.
Edit: 6s. The s stands for "stingy on storage" lol
Ah but Schiller is so clever getting people to spend $99 more. That guy needs to get a major bonus. After he gets done reminding people that if you're not spending more than $650 on a phone you're being cheap.

And since for me 32 is as useless as 16 I could hardly care less. Even with iCloud photo library my 128 has only a comfortable amount of free space.
But the topic DOES make me nostalgic for the "removable battery/memory" days....
It's still a ripoff with the sole intention of getting people to pay more. Some here say it's a margin issue yet in the first quarter where Apple offered 64GB for the price of 32GB they reported the highest profits of any company ever and close to record margins.
So what are you going to do about it? Nothing? Thought so.
This whole whining about storage issue is so anti-capitalist and anti-success oriented, and the denigration aimed at Apple for playing by those rules seems better suited for the likes of sites that welcome and harbour juveniles and anti-Apple trolls like MacRumors, seriously.

Consumers are not capitalists. We're going to want what's best for us, not for big business.
It's particularly funny coming from a guy who claimed $1 a month for more iCloud storage would break the bank for his parents.
All I can say is Schiller and Cook better be prepared for the shit storm if entry level storage is still 16GB and no changes are made to iCloud options. You would think Apple would at least want to be competitive with Google and Microsoft when it comes to cloud storage.

So do I, but I also realise the system in which we live, despite not being of my choosing nor of my setting the rules, is the one we have, like it or lump it. Complaining about it in a forum that isn't about making any changes to it seems about as useful as yelling at the sky for being blue.

Apple will face a shit storm of the storage on the entry-level Apple TV is only 8GB, given that gaming will be a tent pole feature.

People complain about all sorts of things on this forum. Why does this one irk you so?

If 16GB is not enough space for you, then you can move up to the next model. How many people buy an iPhone and yet never fill up even 1/2 of the built-in storage? Apple has full rights to cater to the "light use" market, as well, right?

Apple's healthy profit margins are exactly how you came to enjoy your Apple devices... because they can afford to invest the time and resources into making it great! Which is more important to you? Saving $50 or having the best experience?

I'm pretty sure I've already explained that, but I wonder why it is you're not asking why people are so hot and bothered about a 16GB model being offered. ;-)

As an app developer I buy every year a new iPhone. And because a few GB is more than enough to test my apps, my wallet is much happier with an iPhone with 16GB

There is a important difference between Apple having the resources the make a quality product and the profit of Apple. Apple needs a healthy margin to finance its R&D. Once the R&D costs are subtracted from the margin, one gets the profit. Profit as such is not needed to make a quality products, but margin is.

Believe me I get how it works.
Right because spending $650 on phone is being cheap.
