What does Tim Cook's statement have to do with my post!?
Did you read the rest of the thread, or is it an issue with the way I worded it, or is it a problem of comprehension?
Tim Cook was so proud of all the Android switchers that came over to iPhone. Like it or not, those are the exact same ones leaving fake negative reviews against this product. Sorry, I like to group everyone together and generalize. Makes it make easier to post on forums.
Most of those are win backs. They previously had an iPhone and for whatever reason went to Android, and have now come back.
Just your supposition presented as fact, yes?
Very few iPhone users migrate to android, so your supposition is flawed.(i.e. there aren't that many "reverse switchers" out there to come back)
So what in your mind is an Android switcher, and not a first time buyer? Tim Cook doesn't tell us a 'first time buyer' of what, of an iPhone? Or a smartphone?
Everyone makes associative judgements. I don't automatically assume Android or Windows users are going to be annoying people, I just assume that there's a higher likelihood that they will be because it's a certainty that this group contains the people who are always abusive online and I've never found that to not be the case. There will be exceptions but it takes time finding the exceptions so it's just easier/quicker to use certain filtering criteria. The principle works on forums, you can tell a lot about how someone is thinking just by the portions of comments they choose to respond to.

I can understand where you are coming from but for me I try to avoid making those types of preconception. It's probably why I get so disappointed by DED's diatribes against anything that's not Apple. He doesn't need to do it (and when he doesn't his articles are excellent!) but it seems he feels he has to do it.
On any online discussion media you have to be carefully as it's a self selecting group and the internal dynamics of a site will help define the "group mind" those that deviate from it are treated with suspicion and are often attacked and branded with epitaphs that are designed to drive people away (I do recognise that there are people that will always try to ruin or destroy things that threaten them and their emotional construct and some order needs to be kept) . Fanbois of any type I find hilarious but then again I don't have the emotional time invested in anything except maybe a few games ..... Oh and my wife lol.
Right back to my whisky (21 year old Glenn Spey a snip at ~240USD) so I'll stop wittering on.
I was an android user that became an iPhone user. I don't necessarily see the big difference in crowds that use iPhones vs android. I needed a good platform for security and encryption so I chose iPhone.
I'm finding some usability limitations with the iPhone. Especially doing simple sharing. I think the Touch ID is amazing and I'm glad I have it but now android has been adding it to their phones so there's not that much of a difference anymore
I'm content with my phone but i wouldn't say I've upgraded to a wealthy lifestyle. Still broke...

Those who already own an android phone are "switchers", and possibly (likely?) first time iPhone owners. Those who are upgrading from a feature phone or possibly no cell phone at all are both "first time buyers" (of an iPhone) and people who already have an iPhone are just upgrading.
Surely this is the only rational definition of those categories. I don't see how (in this context) it matters if they don't have a phone or are upgrading from a feature phone they are first time "smartphone" buyers, regardless.

Ok I looked up the quote, you are correct the direct quote was
“What this means is that for customers who purchased an iPhone last quarter and replaced a smartphone, 30 percent of those switched from an Android device,” Cook said. “There would’ve been some switchers from other operating systems, but Android is the largest one by far. That number is the largest we’ve ever recorded since we began measuring it three years ago. We’re very proud of that number.”
So, aparently it was 30% of people upgrading a smartphone (have one, buying a new iPhone) were upgrading from android.
The play store comments are meaningless. This article is biased as it was written by DED. Dude has lots of knowledge, but he spews a bunch of bias in the middle.
You sir are just as biased
\from the posted article about the two worlds:
Apple’s recent success also exacerbates anti-Apple frustration. The computing industry clearly favored Windows’ libertarian-like policy for two decades as Apple languished and inexpensive Microsoft Windows PCs dominated the industry. But, in the last few years, the tides have shifted dramatically as PCs have lost some ground to Macs, and iOS and other “closed” smartphone and tablet platforms have succeeded. Nobody likes to think that their side is “losing,” especially after it was winning for so long. But neither side is absolutely correct for everyone: just as there’s no universally correct political philosophy, users of every platform have good reasons to choose it. The Windows and Android communities need to better understand why so many of us choose Apple, and the Apple community needs to better understand the large market of people who can’t or won’t.
Not sure what all of that has to do with me. I just have trouble getting though some of DED's articles. We can all see how tacky the reviews are without the additional color. I don't think those reviews would stop someone from using the app to switch to iPhone. If anything it might think about the company you are keeping in the play store.
I generally had little care for Fandroids as they are beneath me to bother with. However, this article clearly validates my belief that Android users are just a bunch of hateful punks, and that most of them - based on their childish, whiny rants - are probably on-par intellectually with a burger-flipper.
There is zero reason to post such hateful, non-contributing rants like those posts (are you listening AI mods?). Google should start a policy of removing those kind of posts as they provide zero benefit to the platform. They are hurting themselves, more than helping.

You should consider reading your post out loud in front of a mirror. Does it sound hateful, childish or whiny? I know I myself have sometimes forgotten about glass houses and all that too. I think we can all be a bit less judgemental sometimes if we could recognize it.

Clever boy, are you an android sufferer?
If so you need to make the jump to an iPhone ASAP. Its your... destiny!

That was your main takeaway from a detailed, thoughtful, honest post? Really?
Wow. Pathetic.
It's a minor indicator among other observations. You can see a whole bunch of red flags in the following example:
