I know many people have stopped using a mouse, but it's still a very important input device for some of us. For me to consider iPad Pro as a possible laptop replacement (which I want to consider), this would be an important factor. (Another factor would be direct access to the file system for my own organization of user files, but that's a different topic!)
Yep, I meant only that the test results were amazing (to me). I didn't expect the A-series chips to catch up with the Intel GPUs for about 2 more generations. And for them to do it without a fan too!

Read Gruber's review. The A9X chip is seriously impressive. And Gruber said battery life was amazing which is even more impressive.
This is from Wired's review (their overall conclusion was positive).
This is where I go back to Apple needs to set the narrative and get the messaging right with this device. I'm not convinced Apple is expecting everyone to ditch their laptops for this device (yet) but that's the angle all the reviews I've read so far are taking. John Gruber mentioned that when he gets devices from Apple to review someone from marketing gives him a walk through and basically goes through various talking points. I'd be curious to know what talking points these employees were given with iPad Pro.
Sometimes we all have to realise that we are getting old and the conventions that we cling to also become antiquated.
We have to realise and admit that some things are being designed for the school leavers and workers that will replace us.
Although the iPad pro looks amazing, I just don't see it replacing a laptop anytime soon.
A few weeks back I bought a new Macbook. This is the best laptop I've ever used. So incredibly light, gorgeous screen, powerful and perfect size for use and travel. I find myself reaching for it more often than my iPad Air now. There are still way too many things a laptop can do that I tablet can't...maybe sometime in the future, but we aren't there right now.
And Joanna Stern from WSJ who not surprisingly says it won't replace her laptop yet. I don't think reviewers get it. No this device probably won't replace PCs for people who haven't grown up in a mobile first world. And that's OK. It's not like Apple has stopped selling Macs.
Ever try typing on an unlit keyboard in a darkened room? Lighted keys become convenient.
It's never been advertised as a lit keyboard. Get a MacBook Pro if that's what you need. (In your case, a Chromebook...soon to become an Androidbook?)...

The suggestion wasn't that anything was wrong with the iPad Pro but that if someone was also purchasing a keyboard for it too then Logitech's LIGHTED keyboard might make a better choice than Apple's own. Bonus: It's less expensive to begin with and includes dedicated shortcut keys.
I realize that some want all Apple and would not consider 3rd party accessories given the choice.

If I can afford an iPad pro and keyboard, I can afford to light the room i'm working in.
Typing in a darkened room will give you eye strain even with a lit keyboard.
However, if you are one of those types of people who regularly use your iOS device to smash one out looking at porn in a darkened room or spend a lot of time in seedy chat rooms, you'll need a backlit keyboard. However, I think most people like that are Android users.
What is the current Apple policy regarding the playback of content (originally music) on multiple devices (originally 5)?
Which content?
- music
- TV shows
- movies
What delivery vehicles?
- purchase
- rent
- streaming
As the Apple ecosystem in our lives grows (iPod, iPhone, iPad [multiple], AppleTV, CarPlay, etc.), it's becoming increasingly easier to hit that ceiling of 5 devices. And does Family Sharing alleviate any of this limit by allowing you to playback content on multiple devices (owned by Family members) without that counting against your limit?
"You can have 10 devices (a maximum of 5 computers) associated with your Apple ID and iTunes at one time. Computers and devices can be associated with a different Apple ID once every 90 days. Each computer must also be authorized using the same Apple ID. You don't need to authorize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch."
For a family with multiple iOS and tvOS devices, 10 does seems like a small number. I'm just 1 person and I have 3 Apple TVs, 3 iOS devices, and 2 Macs.

LOL. If it wasn't designed in then you don't need it?
I often end up using my laptop for a few minutes here and there in the living room while other family members are watching a movie. You would say ignore 'em and turn the lights on or would you get up and go to another room yourself to use your iPad Pro? Or better yet, leave the lights off/dimmed and use a lighted keyboard. Now everyone is happy.

if youre not a touch typer, i guess. for the most part i dont look at my keys as i type. my MBP has optional lighted keys but i rarely use them, and prefer the battery savings.
but if the cost of adding it was free, sure, why not.
Damn, I've been waiting for this product for literally years (thanks, AI, for the extended heads up). I want one so badly, I can taste it.
But I also want a simple/elegant smart case from Apple, like the navy leather one wrapped around my Air 2. I've no desire or need for a built-in keyboard; the extra expense, weight, and complexity are unnecessary for me. And yet I must have some all-over protection, as it will be thrown into gig bags, satchels, etc.
When I went to my local Apple Store on Monday, I was assured that they would eventually get leather smart cases for the Pro, but there was no clue as to when.
Just ordered via Apple Store app. In store pick up available today on iPad Pro space gray 128 wifi/cellular, Smart Keyboard, Smart Cover...Pencil ships 5-7 days. App launched sales prior to web with different availability and pickup/delivery options.

That's not so much an Apple limitation as one worked out between Apple and the content owners. Originally, it was 7 devices.

No. There isn't any API for a mouse in iOS. But then, who knows what the future will bring?

Can you connect a mouse to the iPad Pro?

EDIT: Logitech's lighted keyboard is also less expensive than the unlighted one Apple is offering. Just a thought.
Why would the keyboard be lit?

According to this Apple support page:

That was the most interesting article on the Pro that I've read so far. I like Ben.
