I hope Apple has some magic program guide in the works because having to open every TV app to see what's on is not going to work.
This. I'm not 100% convinced apps are the future of TV, but I think apps are what Apple knows so that's what it does. I should be able to tag shows to a favorites list and whenever a new episode is available I should be alerted. Maybe when starting up the TV instead of getting a long list of apps you get a screen that allows for widgets - like weather, sports scores and maybe a section that alerts you to new content you might be interested in based on things you've favorited or past viewing history. To me the grid of apps is not very user friendly, especially with no way of being able to categorize or create folders.
I'm a huge Apple fan but I don't know about best interface ever...
..SNIP...
I need a good app that supports lots of different formats and can stream from my NAS devices in my closet. Otherwise it's pretty much everything I wanted.
Check out Infuse Pro... Working great on my Apple TV 4 and streams all my video content from SMB shares on my Synology NAS..
My only issue at the moment is that the updated Remote App does not allow you to SLEEP the Apple TV... You only seem to be able to do that from the included remote.. Needs fixing - or someone tell me how to do it!
I'm enjoying my ATV4 but I still have some issues with the controller. Some times I feel like it registers a swipe when I haven't touched it. I almost wonder if a wii mote style point-and-click remote might have worked better with the grid set up Apple uses.
On the password front, wasn't really an issue. Think I typed my password in once and that was it. Set up my account to download apps without passwords and didn't need it for most of the app credentials (HBO, ESPN, etc). Not really sure why people act like its something they do every time they use the ATV.
Did they let somebody else enter the password, because that part is by far the worst on the market?
GTFO. Go use the remote app
No, you GTFO and stop being such a cry baby when people have legitimate thoughts about Apple when they are negative. Pretty much almost everyone said it sucked with the logins when the Apple TV came out. Because it did. Deal with it.
That's right. Any misstep that Apple makes, even if corrected later, must be held against the company by concern trolls in perpetuity, and if those concern trolls are attacked, they are defended by a legion of Apple critics. Keep up the good work. Don't let rational arguments sway your belief that Apple deserves nothing but scorn.

Love the new AppleTV but the criticisms are valid. How could the remote app not be avail day 1. Mind blowing. It is a very simple app and they certainly took a while to develop the interface, how could an updated app not be done in time. All the annoyances of the old TV, password entry, Siri not working with music, etc. how could the not be fixed?? I could go on and on. Yes they might be fixed over time but that is irrelevant. We are evaluating a released product, not a beta or a kickstarter campaign. Apple still has greatness in it but they are def dropping balls. Another example how could it take so long to get maps to where it is, still don't have transit directions in most places, or flyovers for all cities....this is just a throughput issue they have the system in place and they have the cash to pay for more teams building out the data for all the cities. Why is it only trickling out, years later?

As far as I know Apple is the only company on the planet that deals with this type of nonsense.
So to use your $300 steaming device, you need to purchase a $400 remote?
The AppleTV cost $150 not $300. An iPod Touch cost $150 not $400.
besides, who the hell doesn't have an iPod/iPad/iPhone and buy an AppleTV?
Regardless not matter how well designed a remote is you will never be able to type well with it without a keyboard. Its flatout impossible. That's why we have the remote App, or even better use a device with a remote App connected to a blutooth keyboard.
PS4 and Amazon FTV are both fast to type with, both of which you can plug a usb keyboard into.
GTFO? Is that your answer to everything, if someone is critical about a feature you tell them to fuck off?
So you are saying you need both a iphone/ipod to use a Apple TV, so the price is actually $699, not $299?
No it isn't.
I have a Playstation and its a pain to type on it.
And how many people want to use a usb keyboard for their TV in their living room? Give me friken break.
Fact is most people who buy AppleTV's already own an iOS device. And its only a matter of time before Apple allows Blutooth keyboards just like the ATV3, but at this point that isn't a priority because very few people use physical keyboards with their Apple TV. Mostly just nerd types.
You have a Playstation? Or a PS4 I really doubt you have either.
I am type much faster on the PS4 than I can on an Apple TV, that is using the DS controller. I said they can also use a keyboard, not that must use one.
Wait, one second it is keyboards suck, next minute, Apple will sell you a BT keyboard, so yet again I have to get something else to use the new Apple TV, so it won't be long before this $299 device is costing me $1000

Not true at all. Wii and Wii U have amazing typing capabilities and that's coming from Nintendo, the kings of garbage UIs.
Of course I expect better from APPLE the kings of UI and design.
I like how you suggest purchasing an iPod touch to fix Apple's issue.

I have an iPhone, but my wife does not. And I am frequenlty not home, so facts differ.
Christ, I must be easily pleased. Got one a few weeks back and have done nothing but love it since. My lad's Xbox is no better at entering info into but I've never really minded any of these methods, because they've always reminded me of sticking my name into an arcade game when I got a hi-score Cheer up you miserable sods, and Merry Christmas!

$299 is the cheap one, $399 the expensive one

Sorry $349 for the 16GB one.
There are over 30 countries that use a dollar, don't be ignorant in thinking that the USA makes up the entire world.
I have an AppleTV, I don't have iPod, iPhone, or iPad. The AppleTV is the slowest to type on, there is significant improvements Apple could implement.
Anyone that uses NZ$ will use NZ$. Next time you quote something put in US$

Why couldn't Apple get it right from the box?
If YOU or APPLE aren't creative enough to imagine a solution that's not the consumer's fault.
