That?s because you were already told what to do and how to think when you were going through the public school system. Its called "liberal indoctrination."

I would have to say that the economy is definately not in a downturn. A downturn would be in my definition a situation where there are no winners. Right now people are "losing" in the stock market but that does not mean that there are not segments of the economy that are "winning."

While others have lost on the stockmarket I have bought and made a good deal of money in real estate. Everyone thought I was stupid because they were running after dot bombs.... but who is smiling now. I actually expect to start investing in the market soon now that all the idiots paying to much for everything are gone. They are busy buying real estate now so it is time for my money to go elsewhere.

Rush is right in the respect that Apple should not blame the economy for their troubles. Apple has steadfastly refused to drop prices, even when all the parts that make up their machines have dropped in price. They still IBM'ize their lineup by actually chopping out features and intentionally crippling their machines. (examples, no level 3 cache on "consumer machines", no dual display ability when it is already built into video chipset, limiting already limited bus to 100 mhz on consumer machines)

Rush is right in that Apple uses language of empowerment and giving the little guy the power to strike down the big guy. However it is obvious that only the big guys can afford their machines. It is like those nice Hollywood stars that want to help the little guy and feed the homeless but then want 20 million a picture and no public access to the beach by their Malibu home.

People have been begging Apple for "value" machines for years. People have been begging for a consumer machine you can plug a monitor into forever. Apple just refuses to "empower" someone to plug in their own monitor or upgrade something as mundane as a video card (consumer machines again)

Rush's comments were not derisive of Apple. He stated an opinion that SO MANY of us have stated HERE in the past. Apple's advertising never takes that "dirty" step of actually SHOWING the general public our operating system. SHOWING them how many apps there are for the Mac. SHOWING them the nuts and bolts.

Steve's as much a gasbag as Rush, or any other public figure for that matter. I so often find that the people who claim to be enlightened expose themselves as anything BUT when it comes to discussing issues.

If you have a disagreement with someone there are other solutions other than calling them names and demonizing their beliefs.

Rush's comment was a serious criticism by someone who uses and enjoys the platform. He's as entitled to make his comments as any of us are here....and most of you yahoos have said much worse about the company we love...and sometimes love to hate.

Tolerance is not a political trait by any party.

However, people who operate from liberal foundations have a double-standard when it comes to discussing issues. They are allowed to brand those who do not share their views, but if those same people attempt the same tactics they are labeled with every non-tolerant moniker available. When this phenomenon is brought to their attention they feign innocence while their abuse gets even nastier.

I hate politics, but I hate double-standards even more.

Finally, hasn't this wandered into APPLE OUTSIDER territory?

Indeed. If I was a moderator, I'd move this to Apple Outsider. Oh well I'm not. But ya, most liberals are very hypocritical and are only "tolerant" to those that share their views. They are not tolerant of Republicans because aparently they are "facists." Whatever, people will believe what they want and no logical argument will change their thinking. I love America. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />
